I don't mind it all that much, it looks pretty cool, but then again I don't collect Spider man comics, so it could be different if I was a hard core spiderman fan, but I don't think its thats bad

I like it but, the original suit is way better of my opinion. Thanks for the update All Star but, this just doesn't suit Spidey.

Like I said before. The question on everyone's minds: How long before the original red and blue returns?
I'll give them a year. 2 years tops.

Since Tony Stark made the costume, and it's got an Iron Man like color scheme, is the suit made of iron? It's hard to tell from that sketch, but I guess it would be hard for Spidey to hop around NYC with 200 pounds of metal strapped to his body. Then again, I haven't read Spidey consistently since back in the MacFarlane days, so I'm a bit out of the loop on his current story.

[shadow=purple,left,300]I don't really mind the new look. I guess I don't think there's a definitive design a character should follow, and in Spidey's case, it actually makes me a little more interested in the character. As long as the suit doesn't have nipples on it, I'm fine. [/shadow]

I found another pic of the "Iron Spidey": Are those actual spider-legs coming out of back?

Hmm..the second definately surpasses the first one, yet I still don't find it in my heart to like it that much. I can live with it...but will probably regret it

Didn't read the Other. Can someone explain why Spidey needs the new outfit by Stark? Here's what it says over at the Marvel Comics Website about Spiderman and the new look (not sure if it covers The Other question though):
"Word has been building for months now, and comic fans have been dying to know- what is Spider-Man’s new costume?! Well, folks, here it is! Recognize the color scheme? You should, it’s playing an important role in the future of the web-slinger!
After the shocking events in "The Other" storyline, Peter recieves this new costume to help him adjust to his newest developments, as well as giving him some added muscle! Designed by Marvel Editor-In-Chief Joe Quesada, this new design has a few tricks up its sleeve. "The Iron Spider design- as I like to call it- came to me during a Spider-Man story meeting we were having, we were talking and I was involuntarily sketching on a pad. It's inspired by a sketch that Chris Bachalo did that showed a new Spidey costume with <CLASSIFIED>. I thought that was brilliant, especially since it echoed one of Spidey's greatest villains, and I took the idea and imagined it as though seeing it through the eyes of Tony Stark. The sky's the limit with respect to gadgetry when it comes to Tony inspired costumes."
Every "gift" has its cost, and this new look for Spidey will signal the beginnings of change, especially as it comes on the eve of the upcoming Civil War. Spider-Man has developed a growing trust and friendship with Iron Man, but how much in debt is Peter’s loyalty to Tony Stark going to cost him in the long run? If the color scheme is any indication, well... Joe Quesada says, "I imagined Tony presenting Peter with the new suit and Peter putting it on and saying that it looks great but that his colors are red and blue. Tony would simply respond, ‘My design, my colors!’"
What is it that Joe is talking about that’s classified? How will Spidey’s relationship to Tony - and the new costume- play into Civil War?! You’ll have to read the books to see! But, it is safe to say that when it comes to this new costume, there is much more to the story! Look for the new costume to debut in February’s Amazing Spider-Man #529. It will then be seen in the pages of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Marvel Knights Spider-Man in April. For more news on Spider-Man, the costume, and Civil War, stay tuned, True Believers!"

Are those extra limbs part of the costume? Or are they actually a part of him? (I have been out of the Spiderman loop for a very long time)

Well, those spider leg limbs look kind of like metal, so I think it's part of the suit.

I don't know. Some of the other pics depicted them as a more organic limb. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Actually, the one on the cover looks pretty neat. I guess Ive developed some liking into it. But its going to take some time for it to match with the original suit...

From what I've found out on the internet, these are the new powers Spidey gets during THE OTHER:
Sharper Spider-Sense Spider-Stingers on his arms Faster Night Vision Feels sonics from his webbing Strong back to carry objects
And the new spider-legs on his back are part of the new suit Tony makes. Also part of the new suit, it was revealed that it contains retractable webbing underneath his armpits.

Didn't read the Other. Can someone explain why Spidey needs the new outfit by Stark? To answer your question, Spidey asked Tony Stark to design a new costume for him to 'contain the spider inside'.
