Anyone seen the previews for the new DTV of the Avengers that stars Captain America, Ironman, and Hulk? I thought this would be a great discussion and place to get some details on this one. The preview had it for March 1. The animation looks great. I really look forward to this.

I have heard some really great things about this DVD, and that it is going to stay true to the comics unlike other movies, so this is a must buy! Check out the official website for the movie it is pretty cool www.ultimateavengers.com/

Anybody else see this yet? Have an opinion?
I "Ultimately" dug it!
The animation was probably the best attribute. The weakest elements imo was definately the music. I also found the bulk of the voice casting and acting to be "lacking". Nothing too awful, but certainly not "JLU" quality : )
Allthough I personally wouldve preffered more traditional / original interpretations of these characters (especially Fury, Thor and Capt.), they were cool and I simply couldnt help but find THIS Thor humorous and likeable! No denying Capt. "A" was capable and full of heart, but he was perhaps overly "simple". He deserved "More" or at least a more specific "defining moment" to shine. But he did kick. Hulk was cool and the Hulk battle finale was the crowning moment for the flick, but I dont know if i care so much for this take on Banner?
Iron man was also fun but was also deserving of a bit "more". Wouldve been nice to get a little more particulars about him and his armor but Stark was well done!
Fury, Wasp, Giant Man and Black Widow were acceptable and I found myslef enjoying Giant Man more than I ever have or wouldve expected. I think he may have actually been given the best "treatment"? not the most attention etc, but he really stood out character wise.
I did like the fact these characters were shown as less than perfect and "flawed". Such as eluding to Tony Stark's alcoholism and characters other personal problems as well as their grievences or tension w/ others Etc.
The story / plot was pretty basic and straight forward. Nothing all together new or ingenious, juat mainly a "device" in place for the purpose of introducing the characters... which I'm ok with. It kinda reminded me of the Fantastic Four movie structure-wise. Very enjoyable. The real test will be in the follow ups. As long as they succeed in building off what theyve established and really develop and dig into / show off the individual characters it will only get better.
A solid and respectible first outing. I'm looking forward to the sequel (due in July?) and would recomend it to anyone remotely intersted. But if youre a "traditionalist" you may be dissapointed with the new Ultimate versions of the characters?

I love the Ultimates comic-book. This movie however, I did not enjoy. Things just happened too quick. I heard they will make a sequel, i just hope it will be a lot better than this movie though. Thumbs down.

For those that are curious, but don't want to spend the $ on this (like me) I saw an ad on Cartoon Network saying that it will be shown March 11th.

I thought this was a good buy, I only paid 14 and some change on Amazon for it.
Like Batlaw stated there was alot of stuff lacking, from the voice talent to the origins of some of the characters. But the animation was awesome and I felt that the film was a bit rushed, just when I was really getting into it, it was over. But that is the problem when you do a movie that is a little over and hour and you have so many characters to talk about and try and tell there story. But I am happy to hear that the sequel will be out this July.
I felt that they focused alot on Captain America and perhaps they should have done a Captain America solo movie.
But overall I really enjoyed this film and cannot wait for the other films, especially Iron Man! who was great in the film

The Ultimate Avengers movie was shown today on Toonami at 9:30 and I have mixed feelings about it.
I only got to watch the last hour of it though (the movie itself is only 1 hour 15 minutes long). In my personal opinion, great animation, great designs, and that's about all the greats there was.
The story-line was a bit choppy. Aliens attacking the world and S.H.I.E.L.D. has to form a league of heroes. I really thought the movie felt really rushed. Those are the best words I could find too describe it. I just kept repeating 'Slow down!' The movie took 45 min. for Nick Fury to find everyone and ask them if they wanted to join the force (which all declined).
The fighting scenes were good, just good. I thought the animation was very well done however. Bruce Banner looked way too old! But I like the fact he looked very depressed. Loved Ironman and Thor and how the Avengers thought Thor was a 'chick'. Ending was rushed so I would give this movie a 6/10.
