Tons of rumors going around about the sequel to Superman Returns...
- some say it's not going to happen at all because of a poor box office return, but I think it took in like 400 million world wide...
- others say they want to do a JLA film first with Superman, and then follow up with a Superman sequel
- and another one is that the Sequel is set to begin shooting in 2008
Now I am not sure what is going to take place first, either way there has to be a Superman sequel, Brandon Routh has to be Supes again because personally I thought he did an outstanding job as The Man of Steel.
But the main question right now is, who should be the main villian?
Personally I don't want to see Zod or the Phantom Zone people, we have already seen them, and I am really eager to see something different with Superman, I want more action something I feel was really lacking in Superman Returns.
I would like to see Bizarro in a sequel, perhaps as a minor villian, with Brainiac featured as the MAIN villian, I think they need two villians to make up for the lack of action and knock down drag out fighting in the first film

[glow=red,2,300]If I recall Singer and Warner Bros did say there would be 2 villains from the comics, one never before seen in a movie.[/glow]

I wonder by saying that if Singer & WB are planning on bringing Lex Luthor back? I hope not because granted Lex is an amazing, awesome villain, but I want to see two new villians never seen before, what do you think?
Brainiac & Bizarro would be great for a sequel.... Brainiac being the main villian and Bizzaro could be some sort of thug that has a huge special effect, matrix style, knock down drag out war battle with Superman
But what should Brainiac's look be?
Should he be more human looking with the hint of green skin and purple outfit? Or should he be in Robotic Form like shown in the Super Powers cartoon/Figures and Crisis?
What about his JL & JLU look?
Brainiac Info & Look
I wouldn't mind seeing him in his Robotic Form, but the purple and green look is pretty cool looking as well. As long as he is not just a normal looking guy as he was played in Smallville by James Marster, I have no issue with any form, just don't be a regular human...
If done in Robotic Form they could go with the way The Silver Surfer is going to be portrayed, that looks pretty sweet, or T2

I'm not the biggest Superman fan and don't know all that much about the villains listed above. However, I'll still go and see what ever they decide to do all because of a poor box office returnI think the only thing that caused this return was that Pirates 2 came out only a week later. That didn't allow everyone to go see Superman because everyone wanted to see the Pirates movie. They may have wanted to release the movie earlier or later, but it was a good one.

[glow=red,2,300] Hmm I dunno I would only like to see one of those villains in the next, Bizarro gives the film a massive fight, I would like to see him as he looks in the comics and cartoons, white face purplish, blue costume like they did him in the Superman Returns game, that would work.[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] For Braniac I dont know there's been alot of looks, like the first picture of him on Wikipedia(at the top) But it would be cool to see him put his brain in a massive robot look brainiac 13 and then have a massive battle. Both Characters have the potential to be great. [/glow]

You have got me to rethink having Brainiac and Bizarro in the same movie, if the second film does well you might need one of those guys for a third film, so perhaps they could pair up Bizarro and Mr. Mxyzilplitz (spelling) and have Brainiac do a solo picture....
I like the video game look of Bizarro alot and would hope that they would push for that style in a sequel. And a Robotic Brainiac would totally rock!
I think that had alot to do with it as well, releasing Superman Returns close to Pirates wasn't a smart move, personally I would have waited more for a late summer/early fall release...

Why does Bizarro wear that stupid "Bizzaro #1" rock thing?

I'd personally like a new look for Brainiac, and I think he's most suitable for the villain. I'd like him as a regular person with an inner skeleton made up of metal. Like the one pictured by the Techno Bat, except with a brain shape as the head (but still metal of course). human? yellow hair...green outerwear? or something that will let us know, like the justice league in smallville.

Your idea for Brainiac is very similar to Metallo. For that reason Brainiac should just simply be robotic. I think a more interesting question for Brainic is not what his look should be, but rather his history. In the Timm cartoons he was from Krypton while in the comics he comes from a completely different planet. I think personally if the decide on Brainiac for the sequel they should use Timm's look and history of the character.

[glow=red,2,300]Totally agree there, The krypton origin is way better than the from an other planet origin, it gives a villain that can connect to superman like we havent seen before, plus if they gave the animated brainiac and modified movie look that would look cool[/glow]

News 'Superman Returns' sequel on schedule Arsalan Source: BlueTights
Contrary to a report we ran last week, the upcoming sequel to Superman Returns is on schedule and plans to begin filming in March of 2008.
Producer Robery Meyer Burnett broke the news with the following post on the BlueTights message board.
'Angeloz asks if I'm coming back to work on the sequel. The answer is...I'm ALREADY working on the sequel. Bryan, Brandon and the whole merry bunch will be coming back...and filming will probably begin March, 2008, as was always planned from the beginning. The WWII film Bryan plans to shoot over the summer will have NO EFFECT whatsoever on the Superman sequel schedule.'

Rumors flying around that Orlando Bloom may be in the Superman Returns Sequel which will most likely be titled SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL. Some say Bloom may be taking over for Routh as Superman, since he and Kate Bosworth have history together, where others are saying he might be up for a villian role.
Personally I hope Bloom does not replace Routh, who is signed to do two more movies, I think Brandon did a fantastic job and should be allowed to carry on being Superman.
I could see Bloom as a villian though...

[glow=red,2,300]I doubt VERY MUCH that Routh would be replaced, considering how thrilled they were with him playing the part,(the good reviews)and the fact that Singer wouldn't want anyone else.[/glow]

I'm pretty sure they were planning on Bloom being a villain. On the movies.go.com site they showed him resembling Zod o_0

That's good to hear that Bloom wouldn't be taking over for Routh, alot of websites are speculating that he might be taking over, but that would be a horrible idea, and I am right there with you guys, I Loved Brandon Routh's Superman, he totally rocked as The Man of Steel.
I don't want to see General Zod in Superman: The Man of Steel, we need new villians or this film won't do as great. I think General Zod was ok in Superman II, and he played a key role in Smallville, but I think after Lex Luthor, General Zod has been seen on the big screen and smallscreen the most, and it's time for something new and fresh.

um i don't know if you guys knew this but it will happen, but after singer's next two films(unfortunately). The first one was really boring and dragged on for way too long so i don't care who the villains will be as long as there's confrontation.

In The Man of Steel should they focus less on the love story stuff and more on the action?
Granted we all know that Lois & Clark is the real story, there love and what not, but they can deal with that stuff in the comic books and give us tons of cgi, matrix style, blow em up, knock em down action! That is what really dragged Superman Returns down...
