Any on here? The toys, the comics?
I grew up in the early 80's and GI Joe was a big part of my childhood. I always looked at the figures when I went to the toy aisles, and the new 25th anniverary figures have really caught my eye. So much so, Ive decided to start collecting Joe again. Ive even started getting back issues from the original Marvel run of comics. I had 90% of the run, but sold it afew years back, along with my entire Joe collection of toys and stuff. Ive regreted it ever since.
Anyway, I figured with me just concentrating on the 89/92 Batman stuff and still clearing out some of my collection, Id have room, money, and a desire to start back on GI Joe. Im just really burned out on everything thats current in the realm of Batman. Starting back with GI Joe has actually excited me about collecting and hunting again. I guess I can really say, "Yo Joe!".

i am a huge G.I. Joe fan especially of the comic. i also colect the figs. i am also very knowledgable about G.I. Joe. glad to have you back. you've picked a great time to get back in as well as some of the 25th annivesary figs are great and the comics right now are the best they've been in years. the current storyline World War 3 is fantastic with alot going on and alot of characters have returned. also Storm Shadow's solo series is great as well. if you have any questions or wanna get caught up on anything let me know. alot has happened since you last were into the Joes. Lady Jaye is dead, Cobra Commander controls M.A.R.S., Baroness and Destro have a kid, the Red Shadows, Hawk getting paralyzed, the reinstatement, the second Serpentor and the COIL, General Rey, Phoenix Guard, all the Declassified stuff. so if need to know anything let me know, or if you are currently reading the World War 3 and want to discuss it feel free to start things up. i tried to start up a Joe board a few months ago but no one got into it, maybe now the time is right.

Have you seen the next 2 waves of the 25th line? They are doing the Iron Grenadier Destro! and the Crimson Guard! Ive picked up afew figures off of ebay, building back up a collection. Im focusing mainly on Cobra. There are some originals I want, but I also really dig some of the newer versions that were released over the past few years.
I went down to my comic shop and picked up what they had left from my original run, which wasnt a whole heck of alot. 8 issues. I want the single issues for the original series, but may pick tpb's of the more recent stuff. Im anxious to get back to the comic cons to start looking for issues, and toys.
My wife is even being cool about it. She glad Im taking a break from Batman. It was getting to her as well.
Do you by chance know of a site that has images of the original card art for the figures?

Joe was always my fave cartoon and toyline. I only ever read a handful of the comics though. I'll always put the Joe Toys and toons on top. Shame the upcoming live action film seams set on defying the Joe's heritage. I do happen to have a good couple of dozen or so old GIJoe comics if youre interested?

I go back to the original kung-fu grip, to have those back. Nice to see the resurgence my son destroyed my original snake eyes and storm shadow 4 inch that I had in my office, the wolf still lives can't kill a piece of hard plastic. I'll be picking up the 25th pack of 4inch and if I can find an original re-issue of the original 12 inch Joe.

Ray Park has been cast as Snake-Eyes in the G.I. Joe movie. i have no desire to see this movie as i'm asuming it is going to be horrible and completely done wrong but for those that are interested in the movie i figured i'd post this for you.

I really loved GI Joe growing up. Although as an adult it isn't really my bag anymore.
I have a ton of figures I'm gonna throw on ebay soon to clear some space.

Ray Park is an interesting choice, Loved him as Darth Maul and Toad, so I think he will knock this one out of the park as well.
So who else are we hoping makes it into the GI Joe movie?

Im indifferent about the movie. I would like to see Major Bludd, Storm Shadow (of course), Tomax, Xamot and the Crimson Guard.
Ive been able to pick up some more of the Marvel back issues. Theres a big comicbook show in February Im be hunting at. I also grabbed some of the DD/Image books. tpbs, and singles. Picked up afew more of the 25th figures along with some of the originals off ebay.
This is indeed a good time to jump back on the Joe wagon. There is some really cool stuff coming down the pike.

Quaid, Vosloo Board G.I. Joe Source: Variety, IESB.net January 29, 2008
According to Superhero Hype...
Dennis Quaid and Arnold Vosloo have joined director Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe cast, according to Variety and IESB.net.
Quaid will play General Hawk, the grizzled team leader, and Arnold Vosloo will play Zartan, a mercenary who works with Destro and Cobra. The action-adventure, coming to theaters on August 7, 2009, is scheduled to shoot next month in Los Angeles.
The two join the previously-announced Channing Tatum (Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Rex), Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Heavy Duty), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker) abd Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) in the live-action feature.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who is coming off Transformers, is producing with Brian Goldner. Latter is the point person for Hasbro's venerable action figure line. Sommers and partner Bob Ducsay are also involved in producing capacities. Stuart Beattie wrote the most recent script draft...
I would've preferred Sean Bean as Zartan, but Vosloo is a good choice also

images from the movie are starting to hit as the movie is currently being filmed. i wont ruin anything for anyone that's looking forward to seeing this, but you should know that they are changing alot of things and it really int going to be anything like the real G.I. Joe. it's as i knew it would be. here's one that everyone will like, Baroness, portrayed by Sienna Miller, will have blond hair in the movie and they are supposedly giving her a different real name than Anastacia DeCobray. and Duke has black hair. so they've basically switched the appearances of the characters. i knew it was going to be horrible when it was announced that the director has never read a Joe comic and doesnt collect the figures. they should have at least asked Larry Hama to script the movie. at least then the story would be good.

for anyone that's interested, the official name of the G.I. Joe movie has been announced as G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. and Sienna Miller was forced to dye her hair, so she at least looks alittle like Baroness now, too bad they've changed the character and name though.
