you read it wrong then mate. this is what it says on BOF,posted on June 8th:
My man “AP” is back with some interesting info for BOF and all the Bat-fans. Here goes:
* There is a “Batcycle,” but there has not be 10 built as previously rumored.
* This “Batcycle” WILL NOT emerge from The Tumbler and CGI will not be used either.
* If you were holding out hope for a new Batmobile, sorry, it ain’t happening. “Too expensive,” says our guy. "AP" has been on the mark so far, so believe what he's telling us...

Shadowbat said: Here are some things Im having problems with. Hes getting everything from Fox. Its like Batman has no skills of his own. Nolan has stripped any "bat" from him and has made an urban, Punisher styled vigilante who relies on only brute force. Thats not Batman to me. Theres more than that.
These are just my opinions and thoughts. Im not saying Im right or youre wrong. If you are liking this, good for you. Im not.
lets just discuss what we are getting up until the movie gets released and then make final judgments, but until then, theres no reason why we all cant discuss these things and try to understand each persons point of view on them.Right you are. None of this sturm and drang means anything until the movie comes out, but discussions about what we have been shown is fun and entertaining. As far as your take on Nolan's "de-batting" of our beloved icon, I do think it is a necessary evil. People like us don't have to be sold on a Batman movie, but most people out there could care less about another Batman film, even after the success of "Begins." One of the reasons for that is that to many, the whole Batman thing is just silly. Now we can all try to convince people that the character is rich in history, depth, motivation, best fictional character since Sherlock Holmes, blah blah blah - but the average movie-goer is largely ambivalent. The classic, comic book Batman has been done - done to death, in the minds of many. These recent films have gone (radically) towards realism because that's the only place TO go. So, instead of the gothic, retro-style Batmobiles of the past movies, we get an urban, all-terrain assualt vehicle that could exist in the real world - and that the average, non-"Bat worshipping" guy or gal would think is cool and different. This "bat-pod" or cycle seems to follow the same pattern. Another aspect of that realism is the de-bunking of the notion that Bruce Wayne (a college dropout) could engineer AND build all this stuff on his own - of COURSE he has an engineer helping him. You also mention that he has no detective skills - well, in "Begins" he did interrogate Flass, track and locate the second location of the drugs, and figure out what Ra's plan was BEFORE the police or anyone else did - this is after being Batman for only a few months. I fully expect more of Batman's detective skills to be on display in this film, as those skills lean towards the realistic qualities of Batman that Nolan favors. I am TOTALLY digging everything that we have seen so far; for me, it's exactly the direction I was hoping for. I actually agree with Shadowbat a little bit. I am not a big fan of Bruce getting everything from Lucious Fox. It was fine for the first movie, but I'd rather see Batman make something himself, or at least come up with a design. I'd find it rather coincidental for vehicles down the line-- this 'batpod,' a batwing, etc.-- to emerge from Wayne Industries' military division. Also, I hope the "improvements" to the batcave are mostly done on Bruce's behalf (assuming we actually see a batcave-- and let me say, I'd be pretty pissed if we don't). Of course, those are minor complaints when I look at the big picture. Really, 'The Dark Knight' can be sink or swim with what we've seen so far. Nolan can easily mess this up the same way he helped bring dignity to the bat on screen. I'm hoping every change is for the best. Until I see everything pan out on screen, I'm keeping an open mind.

I've been praying the rumors of this thing coming out of the Tumbler were false. Design of the "pod" itself aside, I thought that idea was a bad one and simply "too much". Couldnt they have just built the "power cells" into Batman's gloves and boots and have him grab (or "magna-lock") onto the two tires and zip away? Seriously, this thing reminds me of those old go-carts or mopeds that would convert to luggage as portable / emergency transportation! lol As for trends, I see it too. I'm seeing many comparisons from this to Batman Returns (not a compliment)... "Bat-Missile" anyone? Ah well, just gotta go with the flow and see where this movie goes.

I dont like anything about it as it appears and sounds right now. At least not in any relation to Batman. interesting and creative. Maybe fit in a Tron remake or a rad moon buggy from Star Trek: Enterprise, but not Batman. Are those laser cannons? is there an engine? Could even Batman avoid looking like a dork riding that thing really? Reminds me of something like the next high dollar executive "it toy" like the segue-way scooter. Im one who still isn't blown away with the Tumbler but accept it. I'm really disappointed with the new suit, and despite everything I'm trying to stay optimistic about the Joker. I agree with a lot of the things that you are saying here. Lol.............segue-way.......

Well, I do like it better from the side, in those newest pics, than I did from the front. But it's still pretty strange. Right now I wish they would've gone in a different direction with this "batpod" (I really hope they don't call it that in the film). The tires are way too huge and I don't get the cannon things. I'll remain optimistic and see it in the movie, though. I've liked Joker and the Batsuit, so I guess it's not so bad if this doesn't live up to my expectations. I seem to recall, though, that many people were having some serious misgivings like this about Begins in the stretch before it came out, and in the end most(not all) loved it.

now this could be pretty awesome. They've never had a Bat-cycle (i don't count Robin's Red Bird in Batman and Robin) even though they totally set the stage for one in Batman Forever (when Bruce shows Dick his 'car museum'), I trust Nolan with this, let's just hope he doesn't pull a Sam Raimi and go all Spider-Man 3 with this. anyone see that? It was bollocks!
