Revealed on the Superhero Hype Homepage, a licensing sheet for The Dark Knight was recently posted online. Here's Warner Bros.' plans for "The Year of the Bat":
- A direct-to-video anime-style series that takes place in the time period between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and further explores the Batman legend.
- Multi-platform videogame inspired by The Dark Knight.
- Extensive consumer products range to support both the new film and classic Batman brand.
- DC Comics will publish an extensive range of material surrounding The Dark Knight including a comic book adaptation of the film, coffee table books, children's activity books and more!

Im really interested in this Batman anime series. Wanna see how that will look and be treated. Also wanna know what pursuing the "classic Batman brand" means.
Maybe this anime is where mattel will get alot of their "inspired by" merchandise idea's.

Along with the movie figures, they make new figures of what villains would look like in Nolan's Bat-universe, including rereleases of Ra's and Scarecrow (but hopefully nothing from the past 4 films). I can't wait for the game.

This is what they should do, not necessarily for The Dark Knight, but in general; they should release a special toy line of action figures that goes through the evolution of Batman. Picture it, actions figures of the Bon Kane (Det. Comics #27) Batman, then the Dick Sprang one. Then a set of figures from the 2 black and white serials. Then the line goes through the Julius Shwartz, Carmine Infantino period. Then they release a set of Batman toys resembling the cast of the 60's TV show. The next set would feature the Neal Adams Batman, then whoever was the quintessential 80's interpretation of Batman, possibly Aparo? Then you have the figures based on the Burton, Schumaker films. Then you get your DKR, Jim Lee, Tim Sale, and whoever else is currently doing the best with the bat. the line would end with the nolan films. that's what i would love to see. it reminds me of the 1995 star wars kenner line. i always loved kenner. that's the toyline batman needs.

Yeah, this isn't a bad idea! And I can't wait till next year! It's going to be all about Batman!! But the things I'm looking forward to the most are the actual movie and the anime movie. I am interested to see how the anime movie works out!

I heard it was just a single DTV anime movie. But I'm not exactly sure. As far as a TDK game goes, it shouldn't be a platformer, A Batman game where the basic controls are run, jump, & punch would suck. They need to make an entire engine specifically for the game. It's at a great studio right now, so it'll definately be better than Begins game. For discussion of the TDK game, here is one of the existing threads, but feel free to start your own in the Bat Gaming Haven section of the forum. www.legionsofgotham.proboards70.com/index.cgi?board=gaming&action=display&thread=1179519897

The Dark Knight game will certainly be on all PC, platforms, and handhelds. And I felt Batman Begins was the best of all the Batman games and that The Dark Knight will surely surpass it. As long as they keep the stealth feature and we can drive the Batpod, I'll be happy. And let's not forget, we also have the Lego Batman coming next year too.

There's some debate over who's got the license for the TDK game, although WB sold most if not all licenses to Eidos, Pandemic claims to be developing the game. Pandemic developing the game & having Eidos publish it seems most likely if both are involved. Whatever the outcome, the game's gonna be awesome. I just hope it's open ended. As great as the Begins game was you didn't have much freedom.

Yeah I agree the game is going to be awesome! I thought EA games did the games! At least that's who did Batman Begins: for Game Boy Advance.
