[shadow=red,left,300]I don't know if anyone else has already posted this, but... to promote the release of " The Dark Knight", Warner Bros. are making a direct-to-video anime-style series that takes place in the time period between " Batman Begins" and " The Dark Knight". The series will apparently further explore the Batman legend. Sounds pretty cool, huh? For more info visit: www.batman-on-film.com/TDK_year-of-the-bat_7-12-07.html-The Shadow [/shadow]

I just read this tidbit last night. I was really shocked. Maybe we are gonna get some major bat hype for this flick. This reminds me of the Animatrix bit WB did between 2 & 3. Cant wait to see some details on this.

An Anime-style prequel series would certainly be interesting to see. Is there any news on when the series will be released? Probably about a few months before it comes out.

Another aspect of TDK im looking forward to. Don't really approve of a Batman anime, but seeing Batman in an anime style im really curious to see. Hopefully their will be new villians and characters in it. Hopefully mattel can make figures of them since mattel has said their will be a few "inspired by" figures. Go the route the Spiderman 3 figures took.

What are your current plans for the Dark Knight figures? Will the figures be in the same scale as the Batman Begins figures? We are psyched about the “The Dark Knight” movie in July 2008 and will be looking at a number of figural executions. We have a lot of options based on the new costumes, gadgets and vehicles introduced in the sequel, as well as some "inspired-by" possibilities. Our figure range will be broad and offer multiple scales (perhaps three or four different ones), but the 2005 scale will be prevalent. A lot of deco and accessory possibilities are open as well. We've been careful to keep the collector in mind, as well as the kids, so there will be something for everyone in the line-up. source : www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/toyfare/005075917.cfm

I'm not sure about the anime aspect of it as I'm not a huge fan of that sort of animation, but I think this could be really cool. Hopefully there will be voices from the actual actors.

It's not even confirmed to be in the anime style. BTAS was animated by a company in Japan, so techinally BTAS was an anime made for the US.

Yeah, good question, which (if any) villains will be in it? Yeah, thanks for the pic All Star! Packed with plenty of information!
Oh, and if B:TAS isn't anime, some of the foremost comics magazines are wrong! Well, as a matter of fact, is isn't EXACTLY anime. It was BASED off of anime, and they used many anime aspects.

B:TAS look was based on the 1940's Max Fleischer Superman cartoons Ya, I know that, but it was animated in Japan. Anime doesn't mean it's of a particular style, there's several different styles of anime. The designs, so far, look great. My one problem is, they keep dumbing Batman cartoons down. It should be aimed at the fans, not freakin tween boys. The last thing I want is more idiotic 11 year olds clogging up my local comic book stores. & thanks to The Batman that's already started. They really should've taken the same approach Todd McFarlan did with the Spawn anime.

While I loved the fact that Batman: TAS was right in the middle of the strike zone for me as far as my tastes as an adult Batman fan, more eleven year olds interested in comics is EXACTLY what we need. The current Batman Animated series is aimed at a slightly younger audience than the previous series, and that might not make it to your personal tastes, but aside from being a calculated move to sell toys, a younger-skewing show actually has a lot of value.
The comics industry keeps chasing after an aging fan base and distorting characters that were CREATED to be for juvenile adventure fiction and leaving little out there that's appropriate or interesting for the kids the comics industry desperately needs to attract to create future generations of fans and buyers.
Of course, the problem with most of the books intended for a younger or all-ages audience is that there isn't much of a marketing and distribution channel out there to reach casual and potential readers that aren't coming into their local comics shop. The only books that you still find at the checkout at the supermarket are Disney and Archie. It's great that a limited selection of comics can be found in mainstream bookstores these days, but that's not the same as the days of the spinner racks in supermarkets and drugstores.
But that's a whole different rant...
Chris
