I was just watching the official release trailer of the Dark Knight and there was another one showing as related video titled"Dark Knight Find The Joker Dead Commish,Why So Serious?" and it read that the Joker was dead;at first I thought this was a ploy or prank to promote the movie but then i learned Heath is no more that very same evening;as of yet they have only commented that he died of overdose of combination of 3 different sleeping pills as the bottles were found next to his naked body.I still can't think of any reason why would he commit suicide(if he did?).All the fans of Heath Ledger in India will miss him;RiP Heath;with deepest respect on behalf of all the Indian fans.

Why he has done it if he did it nobody knows but what I know it's a great loss to Hollywood. R.I.P. Heath the picture below is because his Role as Joker will always continue living in our hearts.

Beyond the fact of this tragic death, Warner Bros. and the stars, filmakers etc are really going to have a tough time with the marketing now. They are on the right track however with the tributes on the web sites. Very tasteful...

First of R.I.P Heath Ledger and my thoughts go out to his family. I never really seen much of his films but heard alot of positive stuff about him. I dont agree with people running around here saying that or did say that he wouldnt make a good Joker or they "had their doubts" none of you know what he is capable off untill you see the movie. I hope he puts in a good performance and something is telling me he will, maybe its from the clips that ive seen etc. Again id like to say what a tragedy and my thoughts go out to his family.

Here's a question if I may play devil's advocate:
If Heath plays a terrible version of the Joker, would anyone including the media have the stones to say so?
Just something to ponder on...

Good to see someone else will be honest. I for one, have been against Heath being cast as Joker since it was first announced. However, I will still see The Dark Knight and will eat crow if Heath does an amazing Joker. I just have a bad feeling that if he doesn't do a good job no matter what people will say it was "his best work ever" or along those line just because he passed away. The MPAA is notorious for handing out nominations just because an actor died.

Oh my gosh, I know! When I first found out, I couln't believe it! He was such a good, young actor and it was early in his career. I'm not happy that he died, but I'm glad that his last COMPLETE movie was The Dark Knight, it makes it kinda special (not that it's not already special, I mean it's a Batman movie for crying out loud, it's already special, but it makes it even more special)! Yeah, and WB says his death will effect the marketing of the new movie, wonder what that means. I hope it won't effect it badly!!
Well goodbye to a great actor, a great person, and hopefully a good Joker! Goodbye Heath! R.I.P.

i doubt it'll affect the marketing too much, considering they continued the viral marketing which heavily involved the Joker. the "only" thing they will lose out on is interviews he could have done with the media to promote the movie in the run up to the launch, but in a sad way he has contributed to that, because his death is the first thing people think of in relation to the movie...

E! News had a few things to say about Heath. Here's what they said:
Is a feud with Heath's family keeping Michelle from seeing his final movie Premiere? Williams sets the record straight!
Is Michelle Williams so furious with Heath Ledger's family over his will that she'll even skip the premiere of his movie "Dark Knight"? So Incredibly False! So False! Eeee! The New York Post would have you believe the actress os in the middle of a family feud stemming from how Heath's Estate will be managed and it's so bad Michelle will boycott the premiere next month. USMagazine.com however, spoke to Michelle's rep who calls the claims unfounded and absurd.

'Dark Knight' Credits Pay Tribute to Heath Ledger By Associated Press posted: 26 June 2008 06:32 pm ETBuzz up! del.icio.us
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Heath Ledger is getting a fond tribute from his collaborators on ''The Dark Knight.''
The end credits of the ''Batman Begins'' sequel include a farewell note to Ledger, who died in January from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs; and to special-effects technician Conway Wickliffe, who was killed last September in a stunt-car accident.
''In memory of our friends Heath Ledger & Conway Wickliffe,'' reads the tribute included in the credits, which went up Thursday on the Warner Bros. publicity Web site.
Ledger plays the villainous Joker in ''The Dark Knight,'' who begins a reign of terror on Gotham City that pits him against conflicted hero Batman (Christian Bale).
Arriving in theaters July 18, the movie reteams Bale with director Christopher Nolan and returning co-stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman. Joining the cast are Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Beginning months before Ledger's death, his frenetic performance and demented-clown makeup have been a cornerstone of the marketing campaign for the film.
''I needed a phenomenal actor, but he also had to be someone unafraid of taking on such an iconic role,'' Nolan says in the production notes for ''The Dark Knight.'' ''Heath created something entirely original. It's stunning, it's captivating. ... It's going to blow people away.''

Ledger Delivers Brilliantly as the Joker in 'Dark Knight' By David Germain, Associated Press posted: 27 June 2008 11:21 am ETBuzz up! del.icio.us LOS ANGELES (AP) - The buzz over Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in ''The Dark Knight'' for the last several months was justified. With his final full film role, Ledger delivers what may be remembered as the finest performance of his career. A press screening of the ''Batman Begins'' sequel Thursday night had the audience cackling along with Ledger's Joker, a depraved creature utterly without conscience whom the late actor played with gleeful anarchy. At times sounding like a cross between tough guy James Cagney in a gangster flick and Philip Seymour Hoffman's fastidious Truman Capote, Ledger elevates Batman's No. 1 nemesis to a place even Jack Nicholson did not take him in 1989's ''Batman.'' Nicholson's Joker was campy and clever. Ledger's Joker is an all-out terror, definitely funny but with a lunatic moral mission to drag all of Gotham, the city Batman thanklessly protects, down to his own dim assessment of humanity. Spewing alternate personal histories for how he got the horrible scars on his face, the Joker hides behind distorted clown makeup that looks like a chalk drawing left out in the rain. The Joker masterminds a series of escalating abductions, assassination attempts, murders and bombings, all aimed at calling out Batman (Christian Bale) and proving to the tormented vigilante hero that they are two sides of the same coin. ''You complete me,'' the Joker tells Batman, dementedly borrowing Tom Cruise's sappy romantic line from ''Jerry Maguire.'' Long before Ledger's death in January from an accidental prescription drug overdose, his collaborators on ''The Dark Knight'' had been describing his performance as a new high in the art of villainy for a comic-book adaptation. Director Christopher Nolan, reuniting with ''Batman Begins'' star Bale, told The Associated Press earlier this year that Ledger came through with precisely what he had envisioned for this take on the Joker, ''a young, anarchic presence, somebody who is genuinely threatening to the establishment.'' ''It was though they'd taken the Joker and all the colors, everything of it, and just kind of put him through a Turkish prison for a decade or so,'' Bale told the AP. ''It's like he's gone through that personal hell to come out being this, if you can even call him mad, at the end here.'' A best-actor Academy Award nominee for ''Brokeback Mountain,'' Ledger has earned fresh Oscar buzz for ''The Dark Knight,'' which could land him in the supporting-actor race. Running just over two and a half hours, ''The Dark Knight'' is a true crime epic. Throughout, the Joker's bag of tricks is bottomless, twisted to the point of horror-flick sick. ''Some men aren't looking for anything logical,'' Michael Caine's butler Alfred tells Bruce, who's trying to decipher the Joker's motives. ''Some men just want to watch the world burn.'' Come July 18, when ''The Dark Knight'' lands in theaters, the world will be watching Ledger burn up the screen.
