Ok, you all know who Jeff Matsuda is right? But you know that it takes more than one man to put together a show! Often times other amazing individuals get lost in the shuffle...well, LoG doesn't want that to happen! So, we're going to be spotlighting various members of the creative team here on the site. We want the fans to get to know everyone behind their favorite toon! If you work on the Batman in ANY capacity, please drop us a line, as we'd love to hear from you. I can be reached at matt@legionsofgotham.org ******************** We'll start here with the character design team. Jeff Matsuda doesn't design every single character. He works with Jose Lopez and Thomas Perkins. Jose Lopez has designed, among others: Man-Bat Commissioner Gordon and Poison Ivy Thomas Perkins has designed, among others:Riddler's Thugs Spellbinder and his spectral monsters Scarface, Wesker AND that Giant Scarface Robot. and DRACULA! Now you know..and knowing is half the battle! so, c'mon fans, show your love and appreciation for these talented individuals here. You never know, they just might reply

Oh I always thought that Jeff Matsuda did all the design Good to know, thanks MATT! Now I have to thank Jose Lopez for this great Poison Ivy design First when I hear that she would be a teenager I was afraid that she could look to childish. But when I saw her, from the first moment, I love her look! So thanks Mr Lopez ;D Also Man-Bat is a really cool design, I like that he's white and his creepy look Gordon is another good design, he looks new but classic, I like it.

Thomas Perkins has designed, among others:that Giant Scarface Robot. Thomas just jumped to the head of the class! Thanks Thomas! (Just FYI - I REALLY want a jumbo sized toy based on your Scarface 'bot!)

Mr. Lopez, You have some of the best designs for the show. Man-Bat, Commissioner Gordon, and Poison Ivy all have looks that are pretty faithful to the comics (which I'm sure the fans appreciate!), yet they have their own unique look that shows that they belong in this show. Your Man-Bat is creepier and, IMO, better than the BTAS version. Commissioner Gordon is much more true to the comics than the BTAS version, too and I love how you gave him the red hair from Year One. Poison Ivy is really pretty and fits pretty well into the teenage Ivy rendition that the show has. I'd love to see more of your designs in the future.
Mr. Perkins, Riddler's Thugs were very suitable for Riddler. It looked like they were this big Goth-like rock band, Riddler was the head singer, and his thugs were the other band members. Hopefully this is kinda what you had in mind, lol. Haven't seen the Spellbinder episode, but I love the design. It definitely trounces the comic book version of his costume. The three-eyed mystic angle is cool. Ventriloquist...wow, you really brought Wesker to life. Scarface and the Scarface Robot were cool, interesting takes. I'm curious...did you deliberately model the new Scarface off of Tony Montana? If so, that's awesome.

Now I know LoG has a tendency to focus on the artistic side of "The Batman," but I feel it'd be a shame not to give the writers of this series some thanks and consideration, too! As great as the designs from Mr. Matsuda, Lopez and Perkins are, a television series such as The Batman has many other facets, chief among them the writing. In production order of the episodes (and thus, their first scripts), I'd like to thank: Duane Capizzi, Supervising Producer and Story Editor of "The Batman." When it comes to the writing, all plots and scripts go through him first. In terms of the writing, this series has a mission, a goal and a unique vision for the Dark Knight. Adam Beechen, writer of "Traction," "The Cat and the Bat," "Topsy Turvy," "Ragdolls to Riches" and "Grundy's Night." Steven Melching, writer of "Call of the Cobblepot," "Q&A," "Bird of Prey" and "Night and the City." The writing team of Tom Pugsley and Greg Klein, writers of "The Man Who Would be Bat," "The Cat, The Bat and the Very Ugly" and "Swamped." Greg Weisman, writer of "The Big Chill," "The Rubberface of Comedy & The Clayface of Tragedy," "Meltdown" and "Strange Minds." Christopher Yost (who should also be thanked for posting here at LoG!) and his writing partner J.D. Murray, writers of "The Big Heat," "Riddled" and "Pets." Robert Goodman (a veteran writer of B:TAS and Justice League as well), writer of "The Big Dummy." Michael Jelenic, writer of "JTV" and "The Laughing Bat." Alexx Van Dyne, writer of "The Butler Did It." and, Joseph Kuhr, writer of "Fire & Ice." These guys have contributed to a great initial 26 episodes, and I look forward to seeing what they continue to come up with. I'd also like to thank, on the production team: Supervising Producer Michael Goguen. Producer Glen Murakami. Producer Linda Steiner. Associate Producer Kimberley A. Smith. Voice Director Ginny McSwain. Directors Brandon Vietti, Seung Eun Kim and Sam Liu. And all the wonderful vocal talents on The Batman, too numerous to list, but beginning with Rino Romano as The Batman, Alastair Duncan as Alfred, Steve Harris as Ethan, Ming Na as Ellen Yin and Kevin Michael Richardson as The Joker. Whew! Is that all?? --Larry

[shadow=purple,left,300]Well now... at least we know this isn't a one-artist show!
Mr. Lopez, I do enjoy Man-Bat's design. He is perfect. Plus, Commissioner Gordon (the little glimpses I have seen, anyway) looks stunning. Contemporary, yet classic. And Poison Ivy is another one to be proud of!
Mr. Perkins, the Riddler's thugs were, I thought, some of the best hench men I've seen. I also enjoyed the Scarface/ Wesker/ Robot trio too. I have yet to see Spellbinder in action, but I must say he's inspired!
Thanks, both of you, for contributing your designs to the show! I think you two (especially Mr. Lopez, whose Poison Ivy has the fan boys riled) have made a lot of fans very happy. Keep up the good work. [/shadow]

We want to focus on each grouping of people to give each their day in the sun, so lets stick to the character design team in this thread

You mean I assembled that HUGE LIST for NOTHING?! Well, thanks a lot, Matt! Next time you can try being a little more specific in your thread titles! ;D You're so copying and pasting my list when you get around to the writers and producers, too! Seriously, it's nice to know we plan on getting around to EVERYBODY, and I know there are people (even counting that massive list of mine) whom I missed, and deserve equal attention. But this art team, from Matsuda and on, is just INCREDIBLE. If you can pinpoint all their work, I'd love to know who did what exactly...that is to say, a more comprehensive list so we can better appreciate all their fine contributions to this series. This show has the most distinctive artistic style of any superhero show produced; taking classic, iconic characters and giving them fresh looks that maintain the essence of each. They deserve all the praise we can muster around here. --Larry

Unfortunately, his Grundy didn't animated as well as it looked on paper...we'll have a behind the scenes feature about that coming soon.
