This thread is slightly pointless, because at the San Diego con panel they did say Robin won't be on the show due to Teen Titans being already so strong...and I don't see TT going away anytime soon....
I have to give my thoughts on the "anime influence" discussion and a few other points. Firstly, this isn't an anime influenced show, IMO. Its based on artwork and design by Jeff Matsuda with Tom and Jose....this is how he draws. He's an artist, and his work is absolutely amazing. Its just like how some love to see Tim Sale draw batman. If they made that style into a toon would everyone love it? I bet not......but many fans would. Everyone has their opinions, but I wouldn't go so far as to say this is anime influenced. Yes, some shows are these days...many actually, but I don't think that was the whole point. I've seen a lot of anime guys, and NONE of it looks like the Batman...at all. Jmat has an amazing and original style. You can't just lump this show into that category of "anime knockoffs". and hate to tell ya but most ALL animation is and always has been animated in the "east". I'm not sure where this weird hate for certain styles of animation comes from. If the designs are appealing, I don't see the issue.
as far as Batgirl before Robin and all that.....I guess I'm a fan that has been around awhile...read and seen a LOT of Batman. I find it nice and fresh to change things up a bit. Yes, Robin has always come first and its always Dick first blah blah blah. Thats wonderful, but I really enjoy how this show takes up its own torch and dares to tell things in their own way. I like to see some limited change. If its the same thing every time guys, why even bother?! I don't want the same damn cartoon over and over. They constantly change up comics....I guess a lot of you guys don't read 'em, or you might be more open minded to a constant state of change and growth. Thats just me though. I think its a helluva lot of fun!
