I recently went to the kids WB website to see what they had & found a pic from the Oct. 1 ep. of The Batman. It showed The Penguin, Batgirl, & The Kabuki Twins. When Matt interviewed Jeff Matsuda he said some characters have undergone small changes to better suit the animation. I hate to say but after The Call Of The Cobblepot I thought The Penguin was slipping. Then I saw the new pic. Go to kidswb.com & click on The Batman

The link is HERE He looks slightly perfected more than revamped. Maybe some more dark under his eyes. Lookin' good, though

[shadow=purple,left,300]I know it was mentioned that the Penguin was undergoing a 'revamped' design, but is this truly what Jeff Matsuda was talking about? I don't know why, but I was expecting something more... drastic. Anyway, he still looks good.[/shadow]

^ Ditto.
Although the darker shade around the eyes is cool.

If this is the extent of what they changed about his design, than it IS, in fact, the "updated" version of him in The Batman vs Dracula as well. look at the screenshots again... the dark around the eyes.

I'm still not crazy about this particular Penguin. He's one of the show's weakest elements.

I believe the show has over used him in Season 1 and 2 so hopefully he only appears in one episode of Season 3 and thats it for now!!

amen, i never ever realized how he kept a fan base enought to make it to the 80's.
he realy has a stupid schict. umbrellas and birds come on, there really isnt room for development, explanation, or any creativity in the character.
joker used to be the same in the 50's doing crimes only on puns and jokes and to make others laugh. then they extended the character with joker gases and various card weapons.
twoface also only did crimes with the #2 but then they gave him the split personality thing.
were all villains this 2d?? come on, lex luthor still bears a grudge for superman making him bald. thats why he is a villain in the first place

Indeed some villians lack a backstory or motivation & some of them need to be reimagined nut not so much that it will drastically change

The changes I made were for animation purposes. His facial shape was just modified to be an easier read for the animators, and he has a dark rim around his eyes. I did that mainly cause I felt his face was looking sorta valueless and flat without the dark rims. Same thing I did with the joker in his slight revamp. I messed with Catwoman as well, by simplifying her body shape and making her smoother.

I was really excited when Joker got his updates in Topsy Turvey. You had been talking about screwing with Catwoman's ears...did that happen? Any other animation-necessary tweaks we can expect?

These should be some great villain redesigns.

You had been talking about screwing with Catwoman's ears...did that happen? Any other animation-necessary tweaks we can expect? [shadow=purple,left,300]I really like Catwoman's big ears. But hey, if it works better with the show, I'll take it. Though the "eye shadow" was the only 'big' change with Penguin in "A Dark Knight to remember," he looks a bit better. Definitely reminding me of Burton's Penguin in "Batman Returns," sans sewage stains.
Maybe Killer Croc could use some updating. A few different shading techniques perhaps? The design definitely grew on me, but I thought his animation was weakest of any villain.[/shadow]
