First of all let me say that I've had a wonderfully Batman filled weekend.
I used to work in a videostore and they get all their stock the thursday before the release, you know to do inventory etc. Well due to the fact that once the movie is released the employees cannot rent the movies for 30 days. AT ALL! so to make up for this they are allowed to rent the movies during the weekend before release. The Assis. Manager is a friend and rents stuff to me. SOOOOO I got to watch bot Batman Begins and The Batman Vs. Dracula. To get this out of the way first I love Batman Begins. Best portrayal of Batman and Bruce wayne on film(not including the animated films). Christian Bale is just perfect his Bruce Wayne was great and his Batman spot on. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were also great in their roles and Liam Neeson was a great character. now moving on....
I give The Batman Vs. Dracula 2 Bathtumbs up.
This movie is decidedly darker than the series and it has to be for story purposes. It's nothing too bad for kids ver 9 or 10 but the younger kids may have issues. The vampires in the movie are definetly creepy and ghoulish, and unlike Fox animation's Spiderman cartoon that watered down Morbius for kids to watch by never referencing blood (except for calling it plasma...which it is of course)or seeing him feed, these vampires attack and feed.
Batman is at his best in this movie and is characterized well as is ALfred of course. But the stars of this movie are the villains. Much like the original Tim Burton movies, the villains actions force Batman's actions thereby making for great scenes.
Dracula is truly a worthy advesary and every nuance that has been previously shown is intact from his charisma to his bloodlust. This is one of the better characterizations of the character in animation and he is very very deadly.
Penguin and Joker both make appearances in this movie, however be prepared for the MOST creepy Joker you have ever seen. This movie is as I said before much Darker than the series allows on tv and therefore in my opinion a much better movie because of it. My reaction to it...
SEE THIS MOVIE....OWN THIS MOVIE!!!! I WILL!
