I will tell you this: I will kill somebody, I will find the TB crew and make them cry, if Robin has BARE LEGS. Can he at least have the little elf booties? ;D

One of the things I find fascinating about the Robin costume is the slow abstraction of the original design elements.
Originally, Robin wore a red vest/tunic over a green shirt. The vest was laced up the front with yellow laces. Realistically, these laces would have some sort of criss-cross pattern like your shoelaces, but to simplify things the artists just drew little horizontal stripes.
When the Robin costume was redesigned for Tim Drake (by Neal Adams, I believe?) the lacing went away, but three little yellow rectangles were kept by way of referencing the orignal "classic" look. I'm sure the animators of the 90's Batman cartoons loved this development as it was simpler and easier to animate. Note that the first Bruce Timm-era Robin costume was largely a simplification of the then-current comic book design.
I've seen convention costumes based on these Robin designs and those yellow rectangles get huge, having lost any sense that they were stylized stitches.
When Tim Drake took over from Dick Grayson as the animated series Robin, they simplified his costume further, dropping the green and leaving the costume as red and black with a yellow lining on the cape. The post-Infinite Crisis Robin costume seems to be based on that with the addition of a scalloped edge to the cape like Batman's.
So what will we get out of Team Matsuda? Much like the Batgirl costume, I'd guess something with traditional classic elements (chest Bat with no oval, red hear flowing out of the back of the mask) but with a new spin (Batgirl's skirt and high boots).
I don't suggest we'll be seeing Robin in a skirt, of course...

Could we get something like the Teen Titans version? Or maybe the new costume from OYL?

What, no love for the 1970's Earth-2 adult Dick Grayson costume?

[shadow=purple,left,300]Robin needs a complete makeover. Out with the red, in with the neon purple, I say. And he should ride around on some sort of jet powered skateboard and throw weaponized bundt cake at his enemies. That would be so sweet.

No, no, NO!
Stop making jokes. Robin is suppose to be seen by Batman as a younger version of himself. That under his guidenace, Robin can overcome the tragic deaths of his parents and have a future and a life Batman lost. But, on the other hand, Batman sees Robin as someone with great potenital that so much he could become someone of a rival to Batman.
That's Robin.
And what I want in the next season is a father and son relationship of Batman and Robin. Sorta how like in this season, Batman and Batgirl (two BATs) made a father/daughter feel. B&R would be moreso. Because Batgirl already has a father, Robin loses his and have a father in Batman. Thus, this can have more in feel.
Another thing is Robin and Batgirl in love. That is a MUST HAVE as its history in DCU. In TB, that should be in the show because, for lack of a better term, IT HAS TO.
I asked if the TB Robin was gonna be like the TT Robin because what they did for Batgirl in TB, is exactly like what they did to Robin in TT. In which they took the original costume and made it modern without making a whole new costume. Like for Robin, they replaced the pixy boots with combat boots and gave him pants. For Batgirl, they took the '66 show's costume and in order to make her modern in visual, they added some black for her and gave her thigh high boots to make her sexy and a woman she wanted to be of great potenital and like what some heroines today look like.
Thats what I meant.

I agree with blinker. Robin has to be done right and have that father-son relation with Batman. That's Robin. And I also agree with the stupid jokes. STOP WITH THE STUPID JOKES! THEY MIGHT ACTUALY BELIEVE US! Robin has to have that Tim Drake red, green, pants feel like they've done the past few years. I will have to die if they give him the little pixie look on the show! ROBIN SHOULD BE BASED ON THIS:

And I also agree with the stupid jokes. STOP WITH THE STUPID JOKES! THEY MIGHT ACTUALY BELIEVE US! Personally, I say keep 'em coming! It's a joke and frankly, it's fun. If you really think that Matsuda and Co are going to dress him (or her) in a neon bat thong, wearing green elfin pixie boots and have him throwing exploding bundt cake just because we're discussing it here... you obviously think that LOG carries WAY more weight with the creative team than we really do. (Although, it would be nice to be able to say we can make changes to DC characters at will - isn't going to happen though.) Relax. Have fun with the characters. Heck, I'm just glad Chris comes on here like he does to interact with us. (At least with him, we have a chance of seeing our character designs in print! ;D)

I would like the traditional red, green, and yellow costume but I just hope they don't make Robin's costume too green, seeing Riddler wouldn't like it. Lol I would expect Robin to look something like this but a bit younger

[shadow=purple,left,300]^ I was thinking along those lines, too, but definitely sleeker and probably in his early teens. I'm not too worried about his design, I have full faith in the design team![/shadow]

Ohh... how bout the ultimate "twist"! One fateful night during a particularly fierce battle with Cluemaster, a stray baterang careens of course striking a defenseless nest of actual Robin birdies!? With their mother Robin having been consumed days earlier by the Cluemaster, and Batman now racked with guilt, he takes the injured birdie under his errr... wing!? After several nerve racking hours of intense surgery performed by Alfred, and with the miracle of "batwave" technology, the all powerful cybernetic fowl R.O.B.I.N is ready to take flight! Robotic Organic Bird Investigations NowHuh!? Huh? GOLD right? Well they had better not even think of stealing my idea!

[shadow=green,left,300]Very Nice Batlaw *laughs* I like the idea but don't worry Matsuda and the gang won't steal it, lol. But watch out for Chris he might want to use it for the first apearance R.O.B.I.N. Cluemaster eats it's mother, I think Cluemaster is cool but 356 pounds?!?! Thus why Riddler is better smart, cool, and prefer not to say the last one Okay I'll tell... he is a know-it-all there I admit it. As much as I like Riddler he thinks he's perfection, lol [/shadow]

With Robin's Costume I would love to see a mix of the classic costume with a bit of modern to it, instead of shorts I think Robin should have pants, but the old classic is still a favorite

I totally agree with you guys. That Batman and Robin should have the father/son relationship. In the season 1 finale of Apprentice for TT, Slade says "I've been like a father to you." And Robin says "I already have a father." And they use a transition to the next scene with bats flying around. Even TT got Robin's roots and relationship down. Also in in the Haunted episode they had a flashback memory of Robin in the cave swearing the oath to be Robin and fight crime in the candle light like in Jeph Loeb's Batman: Dark Victory. I wonder if they'll pull that scene in The Batman?

A father/son relationship sounds reasonable but I think it'll depend on how Robin is introduced in the first place. Since Batgirl's already around there might be some difficulties in there on how each relationship will balance out.
