Hello everyone im pretty new to the site so forgive me for not introducing myself. Anyway, as a kind of way to see my take on the batman franchise, Ive started this thread to give you my oppion on the current Batman animated series...
Ok ive seen both series 1 and 2 and parts of series 3. I think my overal oppion of this show is that it has the essence of batman but i think it tries to hard to please a new generation with new origins to characters we already know and love... Ok im not too famous with the comic history but the start of the first episode was that he was 3 years into being batman. Now does anyone find it a little weird that Batman had not faced any foes like the likes of Joker until that first episode which leads to a string of super villians...?
In my oppion much of the Batman Begins movie which is related much to more the comic book story, I would believe that Raz Al Ghul and Scarecrow may have been villians Batman had faced before. He may have faced others who knows maybe in the future episodes we will see batman come across these characters in a one to one battle.
Looking at the villians of the first series i would say im am a little disappointed with the new design of some of the characters, Mainly of that of Mr Freeze, firefly and Scareface... They gave Mr Freeze a whole new story which i felt what made Mr Freeze so cool was that deep dark story of torment i know from probably the previous cartoon series. my biggist problem with firefly and scareface was not the characters themselves but there technology. I always felt that although technology advancing city of gotham, a Giant walking robot and a flying man (unless mutation) would seem a little farfetched. Good for a future episode but i dunno maybe to me it felt a little out of place.
Now i know there isnt much fans of Robin's character appearing but i believe that the series one final should of brought in the character. We had a climatic story with clayface and joker, and to stop them was that detective woman and batman. I felt at most that in that episode Dick Grayson should of debut, not necessary becomming robin but something that would progress throughout series 2 and then seing robin by series 2 final...
Ok on to series two, Actually i liked more of the qualities of this series because it reminded me more of the original animated series. Reflecting back i feel that the only defining character within the story was Riddler, i dunno why but ill be sticking with it.
Further more i felt that the series final didnt have the same edge the first series had. i think there is an over use of Pengiuns character in this, throughout the whole series in fact. Joker and Batman have been the two arch foes always batteling each other, i feel that Pengiun seems to be intruding on that kind of relationship.
I must confess im not a fan of Pengiun i see him very two dimenisonal, i prefer the more complex characters like Riddler, Joker and Mr Freeze.
on to series 3, from what i have seen so far, i am disappointed. I just started to like the series and then they add batgirl, i feel let down by that. it messes up my chronology of the batman series im sure robin came before batgirl, then again i dunno. im not that too well with the comics. I feel series 3 is lacking which isnt good when it comes down to being renewed. Villianwise i have been bored out my head, i want the Riddler back, and how about introducing Two-face and Scarecrow...
Ok so you know how i feel about it, my prediction for the future. Im disappointed by two missing characters who not necessarly needed to a villian but felt there presence should of been ecknoledge. That of course is Harvy Dent and Jonthan Crane... I think Frank Goslin was the voice of Hugo Strange and as well he died wouldnt it be wise to have crane take over? and why hasnt Harvy Dent been defending Joker of Clayface in court?
What we need is a big rocket up this shows A** to give the views a little more exciting. I think they need to introduce Robin, Haryl-quinn, Two-Face, and Scarecrow sooner than later.
I hope i havent given you the wrong impression with this thred, yes i am oppionated but i always see room for improvement in things. Overall it has been successful in other parts of this series and could go on for many series. I just feel it could do with a boost.
