Today I picked up the COIE Series 3 Batman & Huntress - Again DCD fails to produce the perfect Batman. Finally they make a Batman that's not pre-posed as he's in a pretty vanilla stance only to mess up the head. They left the black shadow off the cowl that the proto had... I do like it better without the shadow although usually I'd want the shadow on the SA Bats cowl, but I never liked how it looked on the proto pic. My issue with the head sculpt is they added way to many worry lines to his forehead. (Just like the Ross figure) If they had a better sculpted head this would be the best Batman from DCD, but now that honor still goes to the Hush Batman even with his awkwardly posed left leg. Articulation he has 11 POA -cut neck, Usual DCD ball-Jointed shoulders, elbows, cut forearms, t-crotch & knees. I'm guessing the scale is off, because I don't think Bats was this much taller than the Flash. Scale Pic w/ Hush Batman - Scale pic w/ SA Robin & Joker - Huntress - PJ

Got mine today also. I like the look , kinda like Aparo meets Kubert? BW I agree with the Aparo thought. I think of all of the Silver Age artists, this one most closely resembles Aparo's work. Not a fan of the black shorts. I gotta say the quality control is lacking, however. Mine was the best of the four on the shelf and his left ear is bent plus paint was slopped on in a few areas.

OK this morning I posted a cut and paste pic of the COIE Batman with the SA Batman & Robin boxed set Batman's head...But I decide to do the real thing. So here's the COIE Figure with the SA Batman head. I had to cut down the neck and hollow out the head some more, but I think it was well worth the little effort. Side view - PJ

Very nice use of the Silver Age head, PJ. I always thought that head was to big for that body. As for the black trunks, has anyone had any luck with Liquitex acrylic paints? I picked up a tube that matches very closely DC Direct's shade of blue. It seems that it has to be thinned down quite a bit, but then it does not cover well. Any comments?

I kind of liked the black trunks as it reminded me of the Mego Batman and Filmation cartoons from my youth. That being said I always believed the trunks were blue, but looked black because of being in the shadow from the cape. So because of that I had redone mine in blue trunks this morning It's not a perfect match, because my blue was a flat...but here it is - PJ

Yeah it's too bad they dropped the ball on the head sculpt, I was really looking forward to this one. I still think it's a solid figure, just nowhere near as good as it would/could have been.
That's a great custom though...how hard was it to remove the head?

Not hard at all. Just heat it with a hairdryer for about 1 minute then it'll pop right off the post. They both have the same design. The only thing is the SA Batman figure needs to have his neck cut down...and then the head needs to be hollowed out a little more to make up for the space I lost when I cut down the neck. PJ

Great custom! I wish I had the patience (and the ability) to do stuff like that. I usually end up destroying anything I try to custom make.

When I initially saw the figure in the comic shop yesterday I was kind of excited but upon closer inspection I became disappointed with it. Mainly, like most of you, I was disappointed with the head sculpt for various reasons. Never thought about using the SA Batman head with it and it really looks good but I don't know if I'd be willing to sacrifice my SA Batman for it. Very nicely done custom though!

Just picked up my COIE Bats today, and feel the same way as most of you do: why did they redo the head? Other than that, it's one of the best looking figures in my collection (I have very few "classic look" Bats in there so he stands out). My question is, why does his right hand look like he's pulling the trigger on a gun? Is he supposed to be able to hold a batarang or what?

After about 3 months (Beginning of Oct) I finally made the hour trip down to my comic shop in NJ. 13" Aquaman - Dark Victory Penguin & Robin - Reactivated Batman - A very nice figure except for the fact that it uses the Hush Batman body w/ the crappy pre-posed left leg & hip. COIE Batman - Still don't like the head sculpt, but seeing I had pre-ordered 2 from my comic shop I took them. PJ
