I read a post on some of the ToyFair 2007 rumors (http://www.cooltoyreview.com/story/front/Toy_Fair_Rumors_103816.asp) in which it mentions that JLU line might not continue due to poor sales! What does everybody think of this? Matt? Itchy Greek? I of course hope not. So many great figures we've already seen but do not have. And I haven't even found The Shade or Vigilante yet! Jason

The line isnt in any more or less trouble than it was a year+ ago... w/ the exception of now having fewer characters to select from obviously. We've know for at least a year or more now that the line's continued existence beyond 2007 was uncertain, but everything being said/heard legitimately has been positive and hopeful. I would love nothing more for the line to go on virtually forever, but of course that isn't going to happen. We can at least safely assume it has enough legs and support to ensure we'll be getting the bulk of remaining worthy characters. The line should be safe till the end of the year and most likely into the first half of '08 last I heard.

There is a clock on the JLU line. The real question is how long can a line continue without a cartoon to support it? The answer will be when JLU finally goes out. I wish Mattel could go beyond what characters appeared in the cartoon.
The small confort we have is that things are changing between DC and Mattel. It might be too late for JLU but maybe for The Batman line or the DSSH line.

Yeah this isn't news. Without a cartoon on the air to support it this line is just playing itself out for awhile. If sales are low, yeah things will decline faster.
For Xmas..birthdays, buy yourself and relatives JLU figures! Sales = longevity. Plain and simple

That's one way to look at it. Then again there's GI Joe (whose newer shows are generally not patronized) and Star wars (who, yeah, has a huge fan base, but it's believed that shrunken as JLU's is, is big enough to support the line)

Where I am, Mattel's distribution for JLU and DC Superheroes is terrible. All my purchases from those lines have been made Online for the last 12 months or so.

Its only in the past eight or nine years that its been back out with any substance. JLU is a different entity, in that the amount of fans that are obsessive over it are FAR smaller than the other lines. With the show never having been on network TV, only cable, that sets it apart from shows like GI JOE and Transformers that perhaps had a wider audience range. I will guarantee you that the JL will live on in toys...the question is, will it be the TIMMVERSE JL or not. The JL was around LONG before Timm and it will be around long after. You need to realize that The Batman is turning itself into a varitable JL tv show next season.....Mattel and Warner Bros are more apt to back that version of the characters for now. Thats not to say that the Timmverse won't come back down the road....I think it'll always come back. The key will be patience.

I don't think its unfortunate that we will get new versions of heroes and villians in the TB form. The TB design is very slick and the toys are a good size. The new JL would do very will with TB.
