Has DC ever retold the story of Batman from the beginning like they did with Superman in 1987?

[glow=purple,2,300]Kinda. You had the Frank Miller Batman Year One series that retold how Batman established himself in Gotham, then you also have the Jeph Lobe/ Tim Sale series that takes place right after the year one finishes off. Beyond that, there was the two exclusive pages that Jim Lee and Jeph Lobe did where his origin was retold from Alfred's perspective. [/glow]

THE ORIGIN STORY TOLD BY ALFRED WAS A 2 PAGE ONLINE TEASER TO THE HUSH STORYLINE, AND WAS LARER PUBLISHED IN THE HOSH VOL 1 HC AND TPB. AS FOR THE RE-TELLING, BATMAN'S CONTINUITY WAS REBOOTED IN 1997 (ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE DC UNIVERSE) AND IT WAS IN FRANK MILLERS "YEAR ONE" THAT IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT BRUCE WAYNE TRAVELED AROUND THE WORLD TO TRAIN HIMSELF AND PREPARE FOR HIS WAR ON CRIME, THAT SELINA KYLE WAS ORIGINALLY A PROSTITUTE, AND THAT ALFRED WAS EMPLOYED BY THE WAYNE FAMILY SINCE BRUCE WAS A CHILD.

They're getting to a point where they will almost need a Superman Man of Steel or the more recent BirthRight not to revamp him but just to move him into the present and clean up continuity a bit. MOS and BR were respectful of the past, didn't discard all continuity, but for better or worse streamlined the current telling of the mythos.
The Batman comics are violating conitnuity from the past year(Black Mask being killed, then unkilled, Identity Crisis being ahead of the titles). Never mind the past 20 since Crisis or ten since Zero Hour.
