In the Batcave Batman has a collection of things collected from the villians he has fought. But what is up with the dinosaur?
Also just before the Knightfall series, was there a long series of comics that led up to Bane releaseing the villians from Arkham?
Also when was the first year, or how long ago, did Batman change from the blue and grey to the black and grey costume?

The dinousar. Good question! Thanks to Warlord over at our comic partner CIOTDK for some of this info! www.rasalghul.co.uk/database/comics_details.asp?id=1981The story of the dinousaur was related in Batman Chronicles #8 (1997) Alfred relates the story of the giant dinosaur found in the Batcave. Murry Hart, the owner of a dinosaur-themed attraction called Dinosaur Island, was found dead and Batman soon discovered that the killer was Hart's business partner Stephan Chase. He confronted Chase at Dinosaur Island, fighting a menagerie of animatronic beasts before capturing the murderer. Yet so often, he knew, his efforts were ineffectual. Alfred decides he should collect some momentos of Batman's successes, to remind him that he does make a difference, and the first of these is a robotic dinosaur from Dinosaur Island. *This story was first drawn by Bob Kane way back in Batman #35. Batman Chronicles merely retold the story for a more modern audience. I'll see what else I can dig up and let you know!

There was never any specific "change" from a black and gray costume to a blue and gray costume. The blue was originally intended as a highlight color on the black parts of the costume to break up the silhouette. As different artists drew the character, the amount of blue on the costume changed to the point where it was long treated as blue. More recently artists have tended to treat it more as blue highlights on black again.
We should be thankful there haven't been similar issues with Superman's hair!

I think most of the collected items were destroyed during "Cataclysm", the beginning to NML. The more recent version of the Cave seems to be without any of the memorabilia. I also thought it was during NML that Bat's went back to the Black/Grey Costume with the plain back Bat symbol and the "pocketed" utility belt.

IN CURRENT CONTINUITY, BATMAN'S COSTUME WAS ORIGINALLY BLACK AND GRAY; HE CHANGED IT AROUND YEAR THREE, AFTER HE TOOK IN ROBIN, TO BLUE AND GRAY WITH THE YELLOW OVAL AND THE CILINDER BELT (DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT APPEARS THAT WAY IN BATMAN: YEAR TWO). IT STAYED PRETTY MUCH THAT WAY UNTIL AFTER KNIGHTFALL, (ACTUALLY PRODIGAL, WHEN DICK TOOK OVER FOR HIM), WHEN HE CHANGED IT TO ALL BLACK WITH NO TRUNKS IN THE TROIKA STORY LINE, (BELIEVE ME IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ALL BLACK, A MOVE OPENLY INSPIRED BY THE MOVIES, ALTHOUGH MANY COLORISTS TREATED IT AS JUST DARKER SHADES OF BLUE AND GRAY). THEN IN NO MAN'S LAND HE JUST CHANGED HIS BELT FROM THE CILINDER ONE TO THE POUCH BELT, BUT KEPT IT ALL BLACK WITH THE OVAL. AFTER NML HE RETURNED TO AN UPDATED VERSION OF HIS YEAR ONE COSTUME WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE BLACK AND GRAY, WITH NO OVAL, AND A POUCH BELT. AND remember THIS IS CURRENT CONTINUITY, THE TRUTH IS THE LIMITED COLORING CAPABILITIES OF THE LATE 30'S AND 40'S DICTADED THAT BLACK SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHTED WITH BLUE, AND WITH TIME IT BECAME ACCEPTED THAT BATMAN'S COSTUME WAS BLUE AND GRAY (THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO SPIDER-MAN)

Can anyone tell me when/why Black Mask changed his traditional mask to a skull mask? In Act Two, part 5 of 8 of War Games, Black Mask shows up wearing a skull mask. Thanks to anyone that can help.

I prefer the pocketed Utility Belt.
That's the one I had put in my Batman/Nightwing/Robin painting.
