What about the fact that Batman is absent during Green Arrow's recollection of Dr. Light's mindwipe, and that Batman is there during Dr. Light's memory. What if they mindwiped Bruce as well. Maybe his already suspicious mind became more paranoid because of this. This would make him prepare the "countermeasures" that were used against the JLA during the "Tower of Babel" storyline. I think Batman may have been even more ruthless after the incident with Dr. Light. This may have made him more drivwn and less of a team player.
Just my $.02

[glow=purple,2,300]Soooo I guess by now everyone has read the newest issue of IDC, which had an amazing Mike Turner Wonder Woman cover for us to all drool over, what did everybody think?
I enjoyed it. I thought it was nicley paced and had alot of fun moments; including Green Arrow asking when Hal'll come back, and the real reason why most imprisoned criminals don't immediately stare at Wonder Woman's rack. Probably the best part (IMO) was Batman's monologue, where he said that he could quit this lifestyle any day he wanted. Only today isn't one of them, and neither is tommorrow.
Spoken like a true obsessive.
My only gripe with this issue was that the Atom's wife (SPOILER) survived her attack by this killer. I was kinda hoping for her ticket to get punched and that would cause there to be even more tension in the group. Oh well. [/glow]

Ok. I finally got around to reading this issue. A few thoughts. Why were Jean's eyes blue on the cover of the magazine, when in "real life" when she recovers from being hung, her eyes are green? Also, what is Merlyn painting? could it be a figure of Sue? Why does Hal say "make them pay when you find them"? Do you think it's because there is more than one person involved, or does he simply not want to give Ollie a clue as to the identity of the killer? The way it's said, it could be a male or a female still - no real clue is given. The Suicide Squad is mentioned again. Since there has been so much speculation that Capt. Boomerang is involved, I thought I'd add some fuel to the fire... Maybe Poison Ivy is involved somehow. She was a member of the Suicide Squad and was a member of the Secret Society of Super Villains and a member of the Injustice Gang. Batman says it's not the Squad, but that doesn't mean it's not an individual member.... All of those groups have been mentioned somewhere in the last 4 issues, I believe. Mirror Master (the original one) was a member of the Injustice Gang also, and he's been at the top of a number of lists too. Mirror Master is shown playing cards with some former members of the gang and says "Do you have any idea how much I'm enjoying myself?" Since he's a former assassin and appears to get off on killing, he's quickly moving up my list. He's right behind Nightwing.....

The interaction between Hal and Ollie was great! is it just me or is Ollie really more mature now. Also liked seeing Mr. Miracle, nice touch.

#5 came out today. I must admit, I got all misty eyed on this one. I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't read it yet, but it tugged at my emotions, I knew what was going to happen, yet I couldn't stop reading. I think the big "reveal" of the "killer" in this issue is fake. I don't believe it's them. (I chose "them" so's to not spoil it once again. Not as a group of people. Not that it couldn't be... I'll just shut up now. ;D )
I expect LOTS of discussion on this one gang!!

Seeing as how the topic heading says w/ Spoilers....
3 Major deaths...
a bunch of interesting stuff....
and an entire IC crisis book focused on Tim and Capt. Boomerang stories (-like 6 pages)....wow...This is an amazing book and I can't wait to see how it ends...but I don't want this to end. This is an amazing book.
Also one of the saddest I have read.

I agree that this issue was one of the saddest that I have ever read. The events in IDC are striking though not exactly unexpected. Unfortunately, I had just finished reading War Games (specifically Robin) and the "BIG" spoiler in IDC sort of rendered a lot of the emotional stuff in the issue moot. I guess that IDC happens after War Games in continuity so reading the Bat-books is like going back in time a bit. Overall, I love the IDC series and can't wait for the next issue!

I think that Boomerang was trying to stop the killer. He was trying to make his son proud of him.

I think that Boomerang was trying to stop the killer. He was trying to make his son proud of him. That's a pretty good theory, since I'm not buyin' Capt' Boomerang as the killer. It just seems too....easy. Too nice and tied up. If it was this easy, why do we have 2 more issues (plus all the cross-overs/tie-ins) to go?

[glow=green,2,300]I agree..he must've been trying to stop the killer..just as you said...you know I didn't think of it that way til you said something...I was so caught up in the emotion of the story.
VERY emotional book..I highly recommend it![/glow]

Im wondering, why was Wally the only one they tried to call? What about Bart? Or even Supes, he could have been there in no time as well...

that is an interesting angle. b/c if you remember someone left him the gun, it's possible that capt. boomerang got the same type of message and was led to believe that he was stopping the killer. this and war games are probaly what leads tim to live in bludhaven.

Apparently, earlier today, Wizard posted the lists for their annual "fan awards" on their site. On the list for "Best Villain" well, see for yourself.
FAVORITE VILLAIN The Calculator (Identity Crisis) Darkseid (Superman/Batman) Deathstroke (Identity Crisis) Dr. Light (Identity Crisis) Electro (New Avengers, Spider-Man) The Gorgon (Wolverine) Dick Grayson (Identity Crisis) Loki (Loki, Thor) Major Force (Green Lantern) Ord (Astonishing X-Men) Serial Killer (H-E-R-O) Titans of Tomorrow (Teen Titans)
His name has since been removed from the list. Thoughts?

Could be. Could also be that Wizard was just pulling another "Sentry" type of prank on their readers. Or, it could be the truth.
How come I haven't seen more discussion about the death of Jack Drake? Is it because no one cares about the character? Or, is it because Bat-fans aren't reading IC?

it could be that Meltzer is just messing with people like Joss Whedon and John Cassaday did by releasing a fake cover to Astonishing X-men # 4 with Phoenix on it. or Nightwing could be turning rogue. i mean think about it, Robin's moving to Bludhaven, Batgirl is initially going with him, in the Nightwing comics after # 100 is a 6-part year one story, and it's unknown what's after that.

Actually, DC has already announced that after Nightwing: Year One Devin's run will continue with an underground and healed Nightwing picking up the pieces of his life after War Games and Tarantula. Also, in this week's Detective, Batman talks about how everyone has left Gotham except Dick, qho is injured. He says that he will be alone in Gotham until Dick recovers from his injury, which leads you to think they may team a little after.
As people on another board said, Wizard Punk'd it's readers!

I'm not sure what to think about that "spoiler" - he does stand to gain from the crisis. I don't have my issues here with me - anyone know where the Atom was during the JLA fight with Deathstroke and Dr Light? IIRC, Deathstroke took him out early in the fight and knocked him into Carter, right? How would Ray have triggered Light's dormant memory if he was ko'd? Are all the other threads running thru IDC just simply window dressing? What role does the Calculator play in all this?
Too many holes for me to believe this is the answer we are all looking for. I'll be content to sit back and wait for issue 7.
