I've been following this arc very closely and I've gotta say that I've been having a blast in doing so. I had a few extra minutes last night so I sat down and read Wargames parts 2 and 3 ( latest issue of Nightwing ) which was really good. I was glad to see Firefly in these issues ( cant remember which one as its just too early in the morning ) and with the eruption of all the criminals slugging it out it seems Batman took the gloves off at the issues close. Rarely have I been dissappointed with the longer Bat arcs ( Cataclyism, No Mans Land, Officer Down etc ) as I really enjoying them especially since they rotate the creative teams. What are your thoughts on these latest twists and turns regarding War Games?

I would love to discuss this with you, but unfortunately, I'm waiting for the trade on this one Robert. I've learned my lesson from the Knightfall and NML arcs that it's cheaper for me to just buy that and be done - I don't get sucked into all the cross over issues, etc.

The only problem with a lot of the trades (like NML) is that they don't include all the issues that were part of the story...which SUCKS!
As for War Games, I love it so far and can't wait to finish it next week....and it is gonna have MAJOR impact on the Bat Family.

Your a better man than me Jeff, I have no self control. ;D Nah - I just am impulsive on different things - like Identity Crisis - when I know it's going to be there, I make it a point to stop at the comic shop before work, just so I can get it! ;D Overall, the Bat-crossovers, while good, are just too drawn out IMO. That's why I prefer them in the TPB format.

[shadow=green,left,300]I, for one, am really enjoying the arc Robert.
I will be honest...I'm not a fan of all the artists..some of the work is quite sub-par, IMO, but I'm very picky!
The story is great...I look forward to getting the issues each week....and
SPOILER>>>>>>>>>>>>
can't wait to see why Batman banishes all heroes besides himself from gotham! Robin, batgirl..all sent away!?~[/shadow]

I, for one, am terribly disappointed in the story. It's just yet another "let's tear up Gotham, make Batman do rash and foolish things that make him look incompetent instead of the World's Greatest Detective, seriously injure/kill off a minor supporting character, and end with doom and gloom for another year's worth of stories" story.
Feh.
It's "Contagion", "Knightfall", "Cataclysm", all rolled into one far less satisfying package.
While there may be some neat elements, so far I give it a C-.

Yep, I'm with Matt on this one. I am really enjoying this arc and although I didnt get to the local comicbook shop today ( work has been a killer ) I will get there this saturday.

I agree with Matt on the art being iffy on some, but...I don't know. Maybe I just haven't given it a fair shake. It just seems that they've rehashed old storylines, dressed them up with new characters and threw it out as another "Gotham will never be the same again!" line. I've spent this year reading all of Loeb's stuff. Maybe that's just ruined me. ;D Of course, I haven't been happy since Jim Gordon retired. I just can't seem to put my finger on why it's not grabbing me... Marcus

I've been poking around the DC board and heard an interesting theory about the whole Robin & Batgirl going to Bludhaven thing....
Read the Identity Crisis thread for more info!

I think that whoever posted that poll on the DC thread just added that....
This has been an excellent story...and in Detective next week they show even MORE changes...this one definitly has an effect of Batman, Gotham, and the Batfamily.

[shadow=blue,left,300]IMO, this has been one of the best Bat-arcs in awhile. Every creative team involved did an excellent job! [/shadow]
