I am re-reading this series and the corresponding return of Superman and I was wondering if, in a perfect world, would you have wanted to see the Dark Knight? By a perfect world I mean not having to worry about keeping the spotlight just on Superman. He and Batman have worked together in the past, I know they are not the best of friends but I would think that the dark Knight would have something to say about Metropolis being a battleground so close to Gotham. I'm not sure if he could have done much against Doomsday, look what it did to the Boy in Blue. I was just wondering if anyone else had an opinion on this matter. I guess a similiar question could be asked about how Superman felt about Batman being broken my Bane but that is a discussion for another forum

While Bruce did mourn the loss of Superman in his own way, as did everyone else in the DCU, he and Supes were not as close then as they are now. I believe that had the series been written today, cosidering their shared title, Batman would definately facture more into the storyline.

yes i agree that today it would have been different, but supes was dead when bane broke bats because robin is wearing a black armband very early in Knightfall.also i do believe bruce mourned him heavily and i believe supes death was one of the issues that had him so weak and washed out in Knightfall anyone agree?

even if superman were alive when Bane broke Batman, he wouldn't have done anything. I think we all know how Batman doesn't like other heroes in Gotham. even when superman comes to Gotham now, he asks them why they're in his city. also a perfect example of this is in No Man's Land when he didn't want any help from the JLA.
