So I'm at work with nothing to do, and I started thinking about Nightwing hitting 100, Detective 800, etc. So I decided to take a look at team books and individual A & B list characters (eliminating Jubilee, Richard Dragon, etc.) from the big 2 and compiled a list of the highest number each title is at by #. I know it isn't an exact science (some titles have not shipped once a month...they go weekly or bi-weekly or long delays like Daredevil) but here is the list. It's interesting to see what has been the longest since a relaunch, what came out around the same time, etc.
821 Action Comics
800 Detective Comics
634 Batman
634 Adventures of Superman
520 Fantastic Four
514 Amazing Spider-man
503 Avengers
451 Uncanny X-men
216 Flash
211 Superman
210 Wonder Woman
185 Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight
164 X-Men
132 Robin
108 JLA
99 Nightwing
80 Spider-girl
76 Birds of Prey
69 Ultimate Spider-man
67 JSA
67 Daredevil
59 Gotham Knights
58 Batgirl
54 Exiles
53 Ultimate X-Men
44 Green Arrow
37 Catwoman
34 Hawkman
25 Gotham Central
24 Aquaman
22 Wolverine
21 Spectacular Spider-man
21 Mystique
18 Teen Titans
17 Outsiders
17 Fallen Angel
17 Emma Frost
12 4
14 Superman/Batman
14 Punisher
13 Ultimate Fantastic Four
12 Plastic Man
9 She-hulk
9 Captain America & Falcon
9 Cable/Deadpool
9 Alpha Flight
8 Spider-man
7 New X-Men: Academy X
7 Firestorm
7 Excalibur
7 Astonishing X-Men
6 Doom Patrol
5 Rogue
4 X-Froce
4 Invaders
4 Gambit
3 Nightcrawler
2 Thunderbolts
1 Iron Man
1 Captain America
Kind of interesting. Especially that DC keeps the numbering going, where Marvel doesn't. The only reason Amazing Spidey, Avengers, and FF are so high is because they went back to the old numbering...and next month Avengers goes right back to Issue 1...which would drop it.
Go DC...yet another reason to like you more (as if I needed more).
The longest current MArvel run (actually) is Uncanny X-Men @ 451, followed by X-Men @ 164. After those two....Spider-girl. :-) DC's top 15 spots are all JLA or Bat & Supes related books, with only 2 (Flash & Wonder Woman) not having a Bat character or Superman in them on a regular basis. DC knows where it's at!
