Subscribing to comics through the mail?

A magazine service that a friend of mine uses has some comics (including Batman) and I thought about potentially signing up for a suscription ($17.00 for the year).

After thinking more about it it occured to me that the comics may have my address printed on the cover like a magazine or they would be damaged during delivery.

Does anyone get their comics through a mail subscription? If so, have you ever had any problems?

When I subscribed to comics years ago, they always came in a plastic bag, with the address label on the plastic, therefore not ruining the cover. I never had them damaged, but there is always that potential. You could always buy in a store to replace though.

I tried to use mailordercomics.com and I received them damaged often so I switched to a local store. I even bought some books from milehighcomics.com and while they were packed better, they still didn't come in unscathed. Personally, I would stay away from the online/mailorder places if you have access to a local shop. I was able to negotiate 35% off from my local place, which came very close to the prices from mailordercomics.com

My have 1 decent and 1 great comic store within 10 minutes of my house so I'll probably just go there.

They have a deal that if you preorder 10 comics a month you get a 15% discount. That should be worth it.

Problem is, I am having a tough time comic up with 10 titles.

Just ask them if they will match the price or come close to the prices you can get from mailordercomics.com....they have 40-50% of titles....that's what I was able to do and it worked out great for me.

I'd have that problem too. How to limit myself to only 10 titles would be difficult

I just subscribed to my batman comics from dc.com, they always come in a plastic bag.
