I've out of the Batman loop for YEARS. I've caught myself up as much as possible, but I have no idea what Identity and Infinite Crisis are. Can someone 'splain? Everyone keeps referencing them... and it goes right over my head!

Well, Identity Crisis was a 7-issue Justice League murder mystery, and although I haven't read it, I know that someone orchestrated the killing of family members of JL members, one death being Tim Drake's father. It was also revealed that when Batman witnessed the JL "mindwiping" Dr. Light years ago after he raped and killed Elongated Man's wife, he strongly objected to this immoral method of dealing with evil-doers(mindwiping can erase the memories of, or alter the intelligence, behavior, or personality of it's victims, depending on how it's used), and to prevent him from causing the team to break up, they mindwiped him of his memories of that night! I believe that in a future event this year, Batman is going to get revenge on the JL for that violation of his mind by breaking up the team and kicking some JL @$$! Infinite Crisis is another Crisis like 1985's Crisis on Infinite Earths(I don't know if you're familiar with that), but few details are known so far, as I understand it. Hope this helps.

That did help a bunch, thanks! JL mindwiping Batman is pretty messed up. I'd kick their booties. "We pissed him off, so lets mindwipe him so he likes us again!" Some friends...
My question is now, everyone is talking about the countdown to Infinite Crisis. All these people are coming back from the dead and such. I missed the whole Jason Todd coming back. I read it in Hush, but is he really back?? For good??

I read it in Hush, but is he really back?? For good?? Hush's explanation is pretty close to the mark. The actual mystery surrounds who killed EM's wife. Don't assume it's Dr. Light. Anyway, you can get reprints of the 7 issues these days and I recommend them. As far as Jason Todd, that's an ongoing development. The Hush series was more a tease on that front. It's worth picking up the TPBs, though it's my opinion the story is somewhat overrated.
