I'm putting this in the comics section only because that's where Batman got his start, but I'm curious:
Which is your favorite take on Batman?
I'll start: All things considered, I think that TAS/TNBA captured the best of everything Batman is, so I'm voting for that.
Side note: I will say my favorite individual Batman stories were in the comics: DKR, Year One, Englehart-Rogers.

Gotta say in the comics. B:TAS was superb, but still not as intricate or complex as the comics' continuity.

Had to go with comics, although Animation and Burton's movies were very close. Gotta say, though, nothin' beats a good Batman comic.

Gotta say in the comics. B:TAS was superb, but still not as intricate or complex as the comics' continuity. I'll concede the intricacy point, most definitely. What I like about the show, though, is that pitch perfect balance between darkness and adventure and mystery. Batman is a fully realized character, the supporting cast is well defined and the creators aren't burdened by the continuity demons. I also like that you don't get the idea that he lives in a world where there's another superhero on every other corner.

Definately the comics. Nothing has portrayed Batman better then the comics have.

Batman in the comics is probably the best place to get anything great on Batman.
The animated series was a pretty close second though

Boy, this is turning into a rout, isn't it? I actually can't say I'm all that surprised.
I'd like to know who picked The Batman there ...

comics plain and simple because they can get away with alot more of a darker portral of batman then a cartoon can.

COMICS! Without question for me. Thats where I started and thats were I'm sure to always return! That being said, the BTAS / toon bats is a very close second! I honestly dont know what I'm gonna do with myself when (if) the Bruce Timm animated Bats / DCU legacy is no more? Certainly hope some incarnation is always on the air! All the fun and coolness of the comics in one clean, crisp, fun, enjoyable classic package! Not to say I dont enjoy movies, or the Bat films. I just dont believe ANY movie version will EVER depict the "quintisential" Batman.

I just dont believe ANY movie version will EVER depict the "quintisential" Batman. You may be onto something there. I think most people find that Batman is at his best in episodic form. One single, two-hour story may hit a lot of points but it would be hard to capture everything in that structure.

Sidenote: I'd like the Batman pre-Zero Hour. He shwed the most honor and at least knew how to work with people, and rookies.
