I haven't read thewhole Knightfall triology yet, just finished Vol. 1 and now I hope that some of you comic book experts can help me out ...
Even before the Arkham break-out Bruce Wayne was worn out...apparently Dr Kinsolving treated him for something...what exactly? Was Bruce sick?
How in the world did Bane figure out that Bruce is Batman? And why is Bane so obsessed with Bats? (please don't answer these questions if they're revealed in Vol. 2 and 3)

(John Paul Valley/Azrael made his first appearance around this time.) Pre-Knightfall, Batman was pushing himself pretty hard - to the point of exhaustion. That's what the Doc was treating him for. He had been trying to take down Black Mask and the False Face gang, and succeeded in infiltrating the gang by appearing as a new alt. identity - Skullface. Long story short, the GCPD picked up most of the False Facers, but Black Mask got away. Batman felt like he had failed and was pretty worn out. Next he fought a character called Metalhead, while searching for Black Mask. Batman won, but he was exhausted and hurt. Robin and Alfred got him back to the cave. At that point, he agreed to see Dr Kinsolving, who said he was fine physically. She gave him some sedatives and had him get some rest. Realizing the effects it might have for Batman not to go after Croc (who was on a rampage), Tim gave Jean-Paul a Batsuit. They went out after Croc. Together, they were unable to take him down, but Bane showed up and easily defeated him. He knew JPV wasn't Batman. For info on why Bane had such a mad-on for Batman, check out our comic site associate, CIODK info on Bane. It's a great resource for all Batman comic related questions!!

I'm one of the folk who's too young to have read Knightfall in its original run, and I gotta say, I was disappointed to see how much they left out between Volume 2 and Volume 3. If you haven't got past #1, outrageous, this will be spoilers for ya, so cover your eyes...

The death of Abbatoir was completely left out, and, now having read those back issues, I can now appreciate how important that event was in Jean Paul's descent into evil. I'm still ticked that it didn't make it in. Also, the resolution of the Dr. Kinsolving/Jack Drake story disappeared...Grrr, argh...

I really dislike the fact that DC leaves so much out of it's trades.

Off topic- while we're on the subject of old comics, I just re-read Crisis and I have to ask, were Huntress, Robin-2 and Kole's bodies ever recovered?
