i just started getting back into Batman stuff and i was wondering if any of you had suggestions on comics, etc. that i could pick up to get my fix. i stopped reading after about the 4 comic in the Hush series. i'm thinking of getting the No Mans Land and Officer Down TPBs, but i'm open to more suggestions.  |

I definitely have some suggestions for ya. For starters, The Dark Knight Returns is, IMO, one of the greatest Bat-stories of all-time. Year One is the foundation of the current Batman continuity, and is also a great story. Knightfall is a very important story, and No Man's Land is both important and fascinating, IMO. I'd recommend The Killing Joke, and last but not least, all of Hush. That's my list. |

Well if you get Year One then you need to also get Batman: The Long Halloween and Dark Victory! Greg, congrats on your renewed interest. Just Curious...Did Batman Begins help spark your interest? If so then i applaude Nolan and Co. for getting more ppl interested.

thanks guys, i just read the Dark Knight returns, it rocked. and it was a little bit Batman Begins, i used to be big into Batman, then i kind got into other stuff. and Batman Begins was awesome! best Batman movie to date. i loved it. i think i read Long Halloween once. i usually try to get some of the graphic novels from the library before i buy them, i'm gonna get Year One there too. i can't wait for the sequel to BB! if they make one. is Hush really that good? i thought the whole Superman/Super dog thing was a little weird, but maybe i'll look into it. i like the Greg Rucka era type stuff with Rick Burchett, and guys like him. they're awesome.

I'm new to the board, but not to the Batman. That said, except for reading Hush when it was collected in late 2003, I'm recently returned to Batman. Thanks to the film, I've reignited my interest in the comics themselves. Unfortunately, most of the monthly stuff doesn't appeal too much (too hit and miss, and I get miserly with my money as I get older), but I've enjoyed the few things I've picked up (Identity Crisis). Any solid recommendations on the Batman family? Nightwing stuff? I'm definitely excited about All-Star, so I came back at the right time to jump on that train. And how does No Mans Land stack up? I've been tempted to pull the trigger on that one, but 5 books is a big investment in the chance I don't like Book One  As for good older stuff, few mention Gotham by Gaslight (first ever Elseworlds, with my favorite Bat art ever - Mignola) or The Cult (with Bernie Wrightson). Great stuff. I'd love a Gotham by Gaslight figure as well. Fat chance of that...unless the Elseworlds line remembers it  Take care, Chuck |

i read the novelization of NML by Greg Rucka, it was awesome. so i think the TPBs are a pretty sure bet. i'm gonna try to get them now that i have the money. you can look on ebay for some good deals on the whole set.
