The regular Batman artist on the very first Batman comic I bought.
My thoughts are with his family. He was an outstanding artist.
Thanks for the memories, Chuck

This is sad news indeed. Jim Aparo has always been one of my favorite all-time artists. I rank him alongside Jack Kirby, Gil Kane, John Romita...! I first became aware of him through his work at Charleton on The Phantom in the late 60's. Then Dick Giordano brought him over to do Aquaman, and let me tell you, nobody drew Aquaman like Aparo. He was one of the first artists at DC to actually bring the Marvel style of movement to his figures. It goes without saying that his Batman was every bit as good as Neal Adams! I will miss him.

He will be missed. Certainly he was one of the best comic artists of all time, and not just for Batman. As a fan of the Dark Knight I will always associate Jim with the great work he did on the "Knightfall" storyline, as well as "A Death in the Family." Sad news indeed.

That is very sad news. He will be missed. He is on my short list of artists who's art on Batman was definitive. I too remember his work from Batman Death in the Family. RIP Mr. Aparo.

Sad news indeed. Like many he was one of the first regular batman artists I got to know while reading Batman. His work definately stood out. He will be missed, **Rest in Peace**
Did some research and found out he died from complications of an illness he was battling, he was 72 years old.

He was one of the greats. Helped define Batman for a generation (or two) of us.
I most fondly remember his work on Brave and the Bold.

My friend and I had been talking about our favorite artists the past few weeks and Jim Aparo's name always came up. I told him before he went up to the SD comic con that I hope that Mr. Aparo would have a booth or make a surpise appearance and he could get me an autograph.
One of the artists I always think of when I think of Batman, I think he had an influence on the way I draw. I am sad that I never got to meet him and think there is a loss in the comic community.
Best wishes to his family,
(vVv)

Wow. ..Jim Aparo ...To me, he was one of those rare artists who exemplified the qualities of their respective era; Dick Sprang for the 40's...Neal Adams for the 70's...Jim Aparo for the late-80's, early 90's... May he rest in peace

He was my favorite Batman artist. I loved the way he did the eyes of a characheter, and he caught the essential energy of what Batman is about. He also did Brave and the Bold and Batman and the Outsiders, also both of my favorites. He will be missed.
