Is Batman: Hong Kong at all connected to Child of Dreams?
The DC web site sort of suggests that it is but I'm guessing that's just marketing hype.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
(Also, are either any good?)
NO SPOILERS PLEASE. Thanks.

having not read Hong Kong but knowing the discription. I'd assume it's not.
I think they call it a 'follow up to Child of Dreams' because like CoD it was done by an asian artist for a release in asia (CoD being manga, HK obviously being an HK comic which have their own look and feel to them) that they were bringing to America.
Although for all I know the dude on the cover is "evil Batman" and it is a sequel just done in a different comic style.

no, the two are completely different. "child of dreams" was done by Kia Asamiya, while "Hong Kong" was written by Doug Moenche and drawn by Tony Wong. i recently read "Child of Dreams", and its not a bad read. "Hong Kong" is great if you are a fan of Moenche's writing. if you love his older stuff from LOTDK then you'll like this.

I dont know about Hong Kong but Child of Dreams was so boring to me that I never finished reading it. I think it still has the bookmark in it on the bookcase. It was cool to see Bats and the Rogues done up Manga style but the story just didnt do it for me.

Yeah, Child of Dreams has a slower pace to it but it isn't a bad story. Hong Kong has a different style to itself, the story is interesting as well. The thing I think you have to keep in mind though is that each story is styalized differently...art and story telling.
