I know this isn't really considered a Batman story but he does make an appearance. And I also think this is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I enjoyed Speeding Bullets but I think this was better. And even thoough the Dark Knight had a small role in the story he did manage to beat the Man of Steel senseless. If anyone hasn't read this book you should definitely take a look at it. They put all the hysteria of the Cold War with all the hatred and propaganda and channeled all of that into Superman. But he did try to do good but as they say "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." I also like the twist at the end.
I liked the story so much I bought the Red Son Man of Steel action figure.

That, (possibly, the most important part of all) he convinced Wonder Woman that what Superman was doing was wrong, allowing her to switch sides with Luthor towards the end of the book, and helping out The Green Lantern Marine Corps...
^ MY SECOND-FAVORITE COMIC OF ALL TIME ;DThat, and I loved how they made him into what he essentially used to be; an urban terrorist against crime (and Superman, "the power" )...I especially liked how they introduced him; I won't spoil that for any future readers...

I also like the twist at the end. I'm not sure I understood the twist (like, is it saying something meaningful about the story's ending or is it just a cool idea Millar wanted to put in for fun) but it was such a mind blowing concept I enjoyed it very much.

It could have meant that Earth/ humanity had grown so cold and sterile in a world/ universe that had a Soviet Superman, that its last inhabitants wished for the Kryptonian to have landed in America instead of the Soviet Union...They place all of their hopes and dreams in a tiny rocket that will, hopefully, send the boy back in time and prevent the horrors of the Soviet Superman regime from ever occuring...
Also, because your username made me laugh hysterically after I was done with my "Scooby-Doo double-take", I hero you... ;D

I first thought it would have been better if the rocket landed in Kansas when I read the ending. But then I thought that since it landed in the Ukraine in 1938 again that the entire story and history was a big loop. That no matter how many times he lands in the Ukraine, grows up, becomes Stalin's weapon, fights Lex Luthor, etc, Earth will always end up the same. I also liked how Lex's name became part of Superman's name, Kal-L, Jor-L. The only thing that really stands out that was not included in the story was the omission of kryptonite. But it did not take away from the story.

I don't think that the inclusion of Kryptonite would have made the book better or worse...It's still a great story at the end of the day...
