Post all your thoughts on Day of Vengence here.
To kick it off, rumor is, Day of Vengence has sold out already - like the previous 2 #1 issues, Omac and Villains United. I'm guessing that we'll see this on the Rann/Thanagarian War also and that we'll see reprints of both as well. The simple fact is, retailers under ordered these books gang. If you want 'em, you'd better get to your shop early or you'll have to wait until the reprint ships.

April 26th, 2005 - The Spectre returns to the DCU in DAY OF VENGEANCE #1, which sold out at DC Comics over a week before arriving in stores on April 27. Now, DC sends this issue back to press for a new printing featuring a powerful new color cover by Walter Simonson! DAY OF VENGEANCE #1 Second Printing reprints the story by Bill Willingham with art by Justiniano & Walden Wong. This new printing is scheduled to arrive in stores on May 25. "This is wonderful news, but also a bit worrisome," says Willingham. "I've just started writing the sixth and final issue of DAY OF VENGEANCE, and now the pressure's doubly on to make this end with a bang. I don't like to brag, but DAY OF VENGEANCE is a series that should come with safety belts — it's going to be a wild ride. The entire magic corner of the DC Universe is going to be turned over, crunched, munched and whacked upside the head a few times." here's the cover for the 2nd printing

This one was pretty good also. It set up a good back story for Ragman, and introduced some of the other characters that we'll be seeing.
Just wait til you see what happened to the Phantom Stranger.... ;D

I thought it was a great set-up story, and it was good to see Blue Devil in a comic and handled semi-seriously for a change. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.
The Phantom Stranger thing was awesome. ;D

Yes indeed, a surprisingly enjoyable and well told tale (thus far). I couldnt pass this up do to it's "Crisis" connection. Normally I dont care for the occult / supernatural / magic fuelled books or characters, but this was one of the occational exceptions! I'll pick up the next issue and beyond as long as it's quality keeps up with this 1st issue.

Check out the cover to issue #1. It really jumped out at me when I was 11. His B&B appearance featured a cute exchange between Batman and Ragman regarding the relative "spookiness" of their respective costumes. The two switch identities in the story (like that would happen today lol). Fun read for it's day.

I may go back and read a bit of his stuff, cheesy and unrealized as it may be...he seems pretty cool these days....
....I hope they do more with him

That B&B issue is actually the first time I knew about the character - it's sitting upstairs in one of my boxes. I'm glad to see that they're fleshing him out a bit more.

It's kind of funny how just as he started to get interesting they pulled the plug. If I remember correctly his costume is actually "alive" or posessed with spirits of the dead or something.

This issue was great. I liked omac project but i loved this for the sheer joy of seeing these old characters being used. Funny...i wasn't looking forward to this at all before but now i can't wait till next month. Thanks Det. Chimp for being such a bad butt who can put heroes in their place. And Ragman was awesome.

I liked issue 2 mostly - I'm not real pleased with the characterization of the Spectre. I don't think that he'd forget who Eclipso was, just because he's disoriented by not having a human host. Other than that, it was pretty good. I even liked how the Spectre took care of the major magic users. Anyone else have thoughts on this one?

BTW, DC is planning a new Spectre series after the Day of Vengeance mini series wraps up. No news as to who the human host for the Wrath of God will be, but in terms of creative team, both Greg Rucka and John Byrne have had their names come up in conjunction with the new series.
For my $, it better be Rucka. Ok - anyone but Byrne. I'd even take Liefeld or McFarlane over Byrne.

This one has made it to a 3rd printing also. It's the same as the first print, except it's black and white with a neon green highlight in some areas. Bleh. Not even worth putting the photo up for you all to see IMO.

From the way things have been going at DC lately, I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Corrigan came down from Heaven to save his friends by bonding with Spectre. I have never really understood why Spectre hasn't become a DC mainstay other than he's simply too powerful. If they could find a way to logically limit his powers I think he might be able to have a long lasting book

Well, DoV is over. The playing field for all magic users in the DCU has been changed, probably for the worse. The 7 deadly sins are back - poor Gotham. Batman will have his hands full soon - perhaps he'll want to rethink that whole 'I don't need anybody to help me in my town' thing. Y'think? What about the Marvel family? With the Wizard dead, are they still around? (I was kind of hoping Mary Marvel and Guy Gardner would hook up somehow, but maybe that's just me. ;D) Based on the pic in my signature, we know Black Adam is still around, but what about everyone else? Eclipso/Jean are pretty much done until someone frees them from their non-decaying orbit around the bright side of the sun - and you know it'll happen eventually. This is a comic book after all. The only characters that stay dead are Bucky and Jason Todd. Phantom Stranger is no longer the Phantom Mouse. Personally, I liked him better as a mouse than I did as Superman & WW's son. Any thoughts on what this'll mean to characters like Zatanna, Fate, Thunderbolt, etc? Oh, one more thing! Blue Beetle's Scarab fell to earth (after the rock of eternity exploded) somewhere in TX. Peev - think you could pick that up for us? Thanks!! ;D

As some of you know, DC will be following it's miniseries up with a one shot, to be released in January. (This goes for all the minis - not just DOV.) Newsarama has a preview of the DOV one-shot. WARNING - IT CONTAINS SPOILERS! Don't say I didn't warn you! ;D
