I'm wondering..with things changing...and a certain someone apparently being back from the dead...what will happen to Babs? Could you imagine if she were able to somehow regain use of her legs through all of this Crisis insanity!? She could be Barbara Gordon again. Not Batgirl, mind you...but something other than Oracle. DC has gone out of their way to all but destroy her role and usefulness as Oracle...so now what for her? I say big things are ahed for ol' babsy! And heck ,lets bring Tim Drake's dad back to life just for kicks.  ;D |

Now that's an interesting take on this.... Hmmmm... (Frankly, I just want Mr. Grayson and Miss Gordon to get back together! But I'm hopeless that way.)

if babs could walk again i would love to see her become batwoman. Your right aswell Oracle in the comics has jsut become a talker who just lets batman talk to the rest.
the story i always thoguht would work best for babs being walking again is is gordon was killed and somehow she pushed herself so hard she was able to walk, then for the next year she became batwoman to hunt down the killers. batman though wouldnt knw it was babs and she would still think she was orcale cos babs could just use a mic in her helmet to make them think she was still there. So keeps going then she finds the killer, kills him batman trys to catch her she cant live with what shes done and leapsof a building.... to not be seen again, or for at least a very long time.

OK...heres my personal fan-fantasy of what they should do.Oracle SHOULD regain limited use of her legs-in the DCU as we know it,it makes no sense for ANYONE to be paralyzed.If the Atom cant shrink down and repair her spine at the microscopic level then someone like Dr. Midnight or Hal ought to be able to whip her up a new spine like that.However-I dont think she should become Batgirl again(at least not full time).Instead I would like to see her and Nightwng lead a team of vigilantes made up of the Bat and Arrow families.It would be a great way to bring back the Brave and the Bold and just imagine how cool a book that would be-basically mixing team members from The Outsiders,Birds of Prey,and Green Arrow!!

she could turn out like Lena Luthor and just be a new body for Vril Dox, or she could become something else entirely. something like Brainiac 13/Barbara Gordon, sort of like the Matrix Supergirl when she bonded with Linda Danvers.

Word out of DC is that Gail Simone is being considered for "consultant" position similar to the editorial roles of Geoff Johns and Mark Waid. If it goes forward as described, she would oversee certain characters in the DCU while continuing her monthly books as well. It is also rumored that Simone will be writing a new Batgirl title post Infinite Crisis, with Barbara Gordon back in the cape and cowl. Supposedly, this would be one of those initially unexplained stories from the “one year gap”, with Babs making a full recovery and returning to her earlier costumed persona. The current Batgirl, Cassandra Cain’s whereabouts may also factor into this…
It's still a heavy rumor right now though, so if it's something you want, keep your fingers crossed. If it's not - keep your fingers crossed! ;D |

Okay I was just lurking around the forums and found this thread. Now i'm here to open my mouth. lol. Anyways I hope she does not regain the usage of her legs back but its really subjective whether you want to or not. Because heres the thing in the animated series I loved Barbara as Batgirl but I haven't been collecting comics as long as most people so I never really got to enjoy her as "Batgirl" in the comics. But now Barbara has created her own identity in the Bat universe as 'Oracle' and myself being a huge fan of Birds Of Prey I can't really see her as anyone else but Oracle. Anyways if they do give her the usage of her legs back besides me being very pissed I hope its not just an overnight i'm back to crime fighting again.

Personally, I like Barbara Gordon / Batgirl, but I LOVE Oracle!... I wouldnt care for her to return to costumed crimefighting as Batgirl nor a permanant recovery from her paralyses. Some form of storyline or adventure involving Bab's temporary return to more "active duty" could be fun though?. But not much more. Babs has found her perfect place in the DCU in my opinion and is of most value in that position.

All I can say is can we have two and have no problem? Both are superior role models and I'm sure DC could find a way to make a fit to keep all happy like they did Green Arrow.

I love Bab's as Oracle and as much as I would love to see her walk again I would rather see it in an expanded Oracle or altogether new role.Cassie is such an awesome Batgirl and one of my favorite reads!
