***SPOILERS*** Well, this series ended with a thud. We have Batman navigating an Indiana Jones-ish death trap house, with swinging scythes and trick stairs, to finally reach Joker about to torture Silver St. Cloud. Along the way Evan is dismembered, but survives, forcing Silver to remain with him, since, according to Batman, he needs her more than Bruce does. A flaming, back-from-the-dead Joker makes a surprise re-appearrance at the end as well. Others have remarked how this series seemed to disappoint many who expected more from the team that created the fine "Strange Apparitions", and I must agree that this run falls short of that standard. For me the problems seemed to center around the stale dialogue uttered by the Joker and the Scarecrow - cliche-ridden, unimaginative, and peppered with half-hearted references to modern pop culture - there were too many moments when I couldn't stop from thinking "the Joker would never say that!" At the end of the book there is a thinly-veiled reference to a possible sequel, depending on reader response to this series. Well...I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah this series was a tremendous letdown. No point to it.
