SUPERMAN/BATMAN #15
Writer: Jeph Loeb
Artist: Carlos Pacheco
Inker: Jesus Merino
Issue 15 is... interesting. It starts with Wonder Woman and Uncle Sam finding Green Lantern's corpse, with his power ring right on his hand! Uncle Sam takes it (somehow knowing the chant to charge it up), and the pair take off to fight Superman and Batman. There are several pointless scenes before the big "Climax".
This climax is just another big action scene with too many heroes involved. (Loeb's specialty, apparently, if you've read issues 1-6 of this series). WW has more people on her side now, and they attack the HUGE statue of Supes and Bats. Blah, blah, blah... everyone's dying. Then the duo shows up.
Wonder Woman kills Batman with a sword to the chest, which infuriates Superman, who beats the crap out of WW, and kills her with her own lasso. then supes kills one of the pointless heroes WW wrangled up, which causes a huge explosion.everyone's dead.
cut to "elsewhen", where that old superman (from issue #2) is talking about "going back there again".
WTF? why is he here? god, why does loeb have to use so many characters and tie everything together? why can't he just write cool arcs? the only thing that saved this disappointment from total disaster was the art and batman and wonder woman's deaths. that was cool. but the rest... don't get me started. why don't we see arcs revolving around batman and his rogues gallery? boy, i can't wait until david goyer takes over at issue 25.
