War Games, a story line that makes many cringe. However in this act 2 collected book it actually seems to be very good like the act one book was.
The story however unlike act one is a slow starter paced much more like the horrible war drums, keep goig however and it soon starts to get its former pacing back and strides into a very good tale.
The main plot points of big interest in this book are the very very nicely done Spoiler torture scenes, which are very grusume and scary. Black Mask is a brilliant villian more evil and twisted then most with one scary way of torturing from drills to even Pepper in peoples eyes.
The story is again like i said well paced later into it and flows nicely the major problem however is the relience on Oracale in this story as pages can be filled with boring dialogue between the main characters which is a pitty as these could have been more interesting had it not been for there disire to get oracale into the story when she is jsut basically a telephone operator and not the major good chracter she was in act one.
Apart from the pacing and the Oracale pieces this is a fairly gd act two and balack mask is really the star of this act. There is also no real ending to this book and again disapoints over the act one ending.
the art like volume one is fairly even and gd with the clean cut realistic look for most of the book being very gd for batman himself jsut like act one great, however two storys stand out in teh general gd art one chapter which is a batgirl story seems to be far to disjointed from the rest of the book and the matches malone chapter also seems to suffer from a bad design.
However all in all great art and fantastic for the story, the cover gallery is also very gd.
Again major draw back is that to understand this you have to read both act one which is actually a very gd book and the horrible war drums book.
This book is a gd act two not as gd however as the first act. Good art and a very gd pacing in the later peices keeps this book gd but again the sometimes disjointed art and slow pacing at the beginning keep this from being a great book.
i give it 3 stars ***
