After reading part 1 in the mini-comic that came with the Begins DVD, I decided to get THE LONG HALLOWEEN grapghic novel. So how do you guys rank this?

Well, I can't vote, but I would rank it as superb. Not perfect, but as close as can be. imo, there were a few inconsistencies and in some ways unneeded/unnecessary plot developments, and maybe the story was a little forced at a few parts, but overall, I think it is deserving of the title "classic." btw, if you like it, I highly recommend its sequel, Dark Victory - also, of course, by Loeb and Sale. It is also a classic in my eyes, and continues and wraps up the story well, imo. Whereas Long Halloween tells the story of, among other things, Harvey Dent's metamorphosis into Two-Face, Dark Victory chronicles Batman's taking in of Dick Grayson(with a cool scene paralleling Bruce's and Dick's experiences), and also has a lot of Two-Face and mobsters.

I voted "perfect". In my room, I have a shelf with what I call the definitive Batman collection. Included is The Long Halloween. This is a great story, and I love the style of Loeb and Sale. Simpling stunning. This is probably one of my favorite books in my collection. Every fan should read this.

Quick question: Who was "Holiday"?

It has its moments but i don't think it compares with Year One or DKR. I give them credit for the effort but I think it falls short in a couple of areas -- the ending especially.
I'm also among those in the minority who are not big Sale fans. But I'm picky.

HUSH- I checked out some info on DARK VICTORY, and I'll tell ya, it's next in line for me.
Are there any other sequels after that?

No sequels but there's a compilation TPB called Haunted Knight that collects earlier Loeb-Sale collaborations.

I thought it was good but not perfect. But then again, I don't think I've ever read the perfect Batman story.

Quick question: Who was "Holiday"? Holiday was a killer who killed various members of mob families throughout the story, but his/her identity was a mystery. Do you really want to know who the killer turned out to be, or did you just not know what the name 'Holiday' meant? If you want to know Holiday's identity, I will pm it to you.

I was looking through my YEAR ONE book today and I was wondering, is TLH a continuation of Year One? I noticed a few things that were in Part one that happened in Year One. -Gordon thinks Dent is Batman -Falcone's scar Is it a continuation?
Never mind, I know it is.

Another question: I know all the others, but what was the Roman Holiday? I heard it might be Falcone's birthday, but I want an answer from some who read it.

Haunted Knight was three stories of Halloween night by Loeb and Sale. The first one had Scarecrow, the second one had Mad Hatter, and the third one was a A Christmas Carol type story with Bruce about how being obsessed with Batman will ruin his life. It's really good. I recommend this to any Batman fan out there.
I got it for Christmas. Which means 1 down, 2 to go.
THE LONG HALLOWEEN DARK VICTORY
HAUNTED KNIGHT

I would probably give it a superb. I like Loebs story and I think thats Sale's art sets an excellent tone for the book. and if you get Long Halloween you gotta get Dark Victory too

Hey I just thought I would chime in/ I voted and rated it perfect. I have read most of the definitive Batman graphic novels and I consider TLH my favorite out of all of the Batman collected editions I have read; and that is above Year One and The Dark Knight Returns. Also Dark Victory is great as well. I am not much of a Marvel reader but I also recommend the Loeb Sale color books they wrote for Marvel (Spider-Man: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, and Hulk: Gray). I am still trying to find Catwoman When In Rome which is a story in between TLH and Dark Vicotry I believe by Loeb and Sale.

The Long Halloween and its sequel Dark Victory are perfect IMO.the Falcone connection coupled with appearances here and there that are just excellent, as well as chronicling Bats early career and that of his collegues is just golden by me 13 stars out of 10 IMO

I finally have all 3 of them! My scores: TLH: 10/10 DV: 10/10 HK: 10/10 Total: 30/30 Is anyone with me when I say they should be the All Star creative team instead of Miller and Lee? They're great, but these are the All Star Creators. Or maybe they should have a new miniseries taking place after Dark Victory.

I bought each issue of Long Halloween and Dark Victory as they came out, and I can't remember the last time I was so eager to "see what happens next issue!" I can't wait until the next really riveting series debuts.

I just got Catwoman When in Rome the other day and read it in about an hour and let me say, it was great. For those who don't know, the story takes place between the events of TLH and Dark Victory. It was written by Loeb and drawn by Sale. I can give spoilers to the story if someone wants me too, but just trust me when I say if you like the first 2 stories then you will like this one.
