I can't wait for the Harley Quinn issue this Wednesday!!!! Quinn is always hilarious and I can't think of a Dini story with her that wasn't enjoyable. Sometimes, I feel sorry for the Dark Knight lol

Detective Comics #831 was great! Harley Quinn was enjoyable when she fought, and seeing Scarface and the new girl in more action was good too. I like the exploding Scarface dolls now, and the new Ventriloquist knows how to make an escape. Great job, Paul!

WW: CHICAGO - DUSTIN NGUYEN TO JOIN DC's 'DETECTIVE' AGENCY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artist Dustin Nguyen will make a return trek to Gotham City in early 2008. Nguyen, who one drew at five-issue Batman arc for writer Judd Winick in 2004 and who is currently the midst of drawing the cape and the cowl for writer Alan Burnett on Superman/Batman, will take over the penciling duties on Paul Dini’s Detective Comics early in 2008.
Though the artist tells Newsarama he has been designated the “regular” penciler, though no set length of his run has been determined, and this time around (“third time will be the charm”) he thinks this time around he has the confidence to do the best work he’s capable of…
“Overall, I was happy with my last Batman arc,” said Nguyen, “but I felt I was really still indecisive on a lot of my execution as far as styling and rendering. I was also still trying to find own Batman/Gotham look and feel. Over the past three years though, I've really been polishing up and figuring out what I want, I think I'm almost there.
Asked if there were any inherent differences in how he will approach Detective as opposed to Batman, the artist says the storytelling style of his writer will be the ‘X-factor’.
Said Nguyen: “I think the best way for me to approach any book would be how the story is set up, so it really it's just up to Paul [Dini]. I've always felt that, aesthetically, Detective was more storytelling, pace driven (something in between Batman and Gotham Central) and a little more reserved on the splash/spreads and POW/WHAM stuff (not that I wouldn't, love to draw that stuff, but as you know… with my Wildcats training, I’m prepared for both [laughs]) I know that's probably entirely untrue, but I set those parameters for myself to differentiate the two books.
"I'd have to say Paul Dini's tone and direction influenced my take on Batman long ago. Growing up, I took in more of Batman thru the animated series than I did from comics. I got to familiarize most of the rogues thru the animation alone. I had no idea who Poison Ivy was until the animated series."
But fast-forward to the now, and Nguyen is a fan of Dini’s Detective, even before he got this new assignment…
“Yeah, and as a reader and fan alone, I’m loving that he's using characters I like. I like the short self contained arcs as well. Really fun for me, since I have a hard time following books for long.”
And from his artist’s eye?
“The stories are looking great, and I think the few different artists that's filled each brought their own to the book also. I was super jealous when Benitez got to draw Ivy.” What about characters he’s looking forward to drawing?
Nguyen: “Totally looking forward to maybe getting Mr. Freeze in there; everything about that character is fascinating to me. The look, the history, the voice (okay, you can’t hear it in comics... but I can try to illustrate Paul's words creepily enough). Oh yeah, and if possible… Poison Ivy of course. Oh wait…Clayface too.”
Finally, Nguyen wanted to remind fans that for a sneak peek at his Batman, they can check out his current Superman/Batman run…” and I’ve also completed a short story with Paul Dini for this year's DC Halloween Special. It's my first work with him and it's got Zatanna!”
“And for tons of sketches and stuff - people who know me call it the ‘Batman Blog’, but its really just my homepage, your can visit www.duss005.com .
“Sorry, had to plug that!”

Cool! I have grown to like the artist who's working with Dini now, but this guy ought to bring something special and distinctive to the title. I'll be looking forward to his art with Dini's stories.
