Is there anyone else here who think that Baby Doll from B:TAS should be included in the mainstream DC comics? I think she has most of the qualities it takes to be a worthy reccuring Batman villain, and is just the kind of character that some of the Alan Moore-ish writers who lean towards more "psychological" stories could do some really interesting things with.
In TAS, she was nutty and silly, but also has that really tormented and depressed side which i found really compelling. I would love some kind of story that explored her life in greater detail. How she was never being taken seriously because of her looking like a little girl, and how she came to choose to actively suport that "little girl" image by starting to act like a child at all times (well, a rather psychotic child that is). Since the comics often are a tad more mature and subtile than TAS, they would probably be the best medium to tell that kind of story in.
And then there is that other aspect of the character i that i think they sorta hinted at in TAS, specifically in "Love is a Crock (the episode were she forms a criminal partnership with Killer Crock). Cause it sure did seemd like she wanted to, you know, have something more that just a "just friends" relationship with crock. Like how she constantly said to him how much she loved him and how they would always be together, and how she were always hugging and kissing him, and how upset she was when she saw him with those two other girls (not to mention Batman and Batgirl's little discussion; Batgirl "What do you think they do on a date?" Batman: "I dont want to think about it"). It almost seems to me like they writers were very, very subtly touching upon Doll's sexual desires, perhapes even sexual frustration. And when you think about it, isnt that a pretty understandable character trait? With her kind of body she has probably never had much of a lovelife, which would undoubtably be something to cause even more distress to her.
But anyway, while TAS always needed to keep everything "clean" enough for a child audience, the comics could more fully explore all those sides of the character. So, once again, i think it would be great if DC inserted her into the mainstream DC universe. What do you think?
