Anybody else on here a Final Fantasy fan?
I'm actually a relatively new fan. I started with FFX and I loved it. I put so many hours on that game it is ridiculous. Then I went and bought FFVIII and FFIX used, but 8 wouldn't work. It would just stop at the opening cut scene. Thus, I have not had the good fortune of playing either FFVII or FFVIII. I did get FFXII for Christmas so I'm having a blast with it.

Thnx for starting this Jake. I love FF. I started with FFX when it launched in 01. & went on to FF5 & FF6 rereleases on the PS1 (these came out around the same time FFX) I haven't got around to the other ones but I've seen Advent Children so many times I can quote it just as well as I can quote every single Batman film to date.

I'm holding out on Advent Children until I get my hands on FFVII.

it won't ruin anything in FF7. with the exception of characters it's completely unrelated.

Cool. I should check it out then. I saw previews and it does look awesome. Does Dirge of Cerberus spoil the game any?

I haven't played it yet but from what I heard from X-play's spoiler filled review it doesn't ruin FF7, it's an indirect sequal to FF7:AC set 1 year later.

But it would be beneficial to watch Advent Children before playing?

I don't think so. I just checked the thing on IMDB, it doesn't sound like it'll ruin AC if you play FF7:DOC first.

In that case I'll check if it is at Blockbuster next time I go.

Be ye warned oh Nightwing. The gameplay in FF7:DOC is mediocre.

I didn't figure as much seeing as they are not known for their non-RPG gameplay. It also seemed rather rushed.

Yeah it was. I like to define it as a 60's horror movie crossover
"Dracula meets Tron meets Final Fantasy" afterall, it's a well known fact that vampires hate guys from Tron. ;D

Well, I beat XII about a month ago. My final observation is a thumb's up overall. Thumb's up for graphics, combat, and battle systems. Thumb's down for voice acting and only decent story.

I found the Final Fantasy Unlimited Anime series on DVD the other day. Didn't get it though. I've heard it's good. Heard anything about it Jake?

Wow, this is a blast from my past. I had forgotten all about this thread. I understand batmanofbaylor's difficulty getting through 12. The story didn't do much for me. There were so many points where I was wondering "Why is Vaan still in the group?" and other things like that. I liked the battle system for 12, but the way the game was set up didn't give the characters a definite role. 10 was far better than 12. In 12, I really cared about the characters and I was amazed at the world there was.
