go to www.wizarduniverse.com and click toys to see pics of 2 figs from series 4 of DC Classics, Wonder Woman and Cyborg. they also have pics of a ton of new figs from their new line of 3 3/4" 3 packs. some of those include Gordon and 2 GCPD Q.R.T. SWAT Officers, Batgirl (Kate Kane), Hush, Killer Croc, Hawkman and 2 Thanagarian Warriors, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Question, Captain Marvel, etc. i'm looking forward to the Gordon/GCPD 3 pack.

These look really cool. Plus with the size, they wont take too much space, which is a plus for me.
However, what I dont understand is this, why start a new DCU line in a different scale?? Why not continue with misc. DC characters in the existing line and bring us a Batman themed line? In a different scale if they want. Why cant we have a strict "Batman" toy line featuring the heroes and rogues???

Im wondering if some of these figures wont be articulated...that would not be cool. I know they are prototypes...but some have joints, while other dont...
Maybe this line will usher in some playsets (since they are smaller).
What about the JLU line? No word other then they are going to be Target exclusives?

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this, forgive me if it isn't: I heard from a local comic shop that the company that makes the Marvel lead figurines might be doing DC figurines also. Is there any news on that front? www.marvel-figurines.co.uk/figurines.html

I heard the same thing on Monday Prof Crane, I would love to get my hands on the DC ones...they are pretty nifty.
As for my earlier post, I got some info on the JLU line. 16 new figures are being made, and are exclusive to Target. Wizard Magazine this month has an interview and it names Forager, Lashina and Mantis as part of a 6 pack being released.
They also said they are going to finally release the Question, but under the name Vic Sage (pretty smart of DC) because the rights are tied up somewhere. Some other names, Shazam and other BTAS, Superman and Batman Beyond series figures...which means we might get the future JLU.

I'm really into this 3 3/4ths line. Hopefully they can expand it out to offer the kinda of playsets and accessories that GI Joe and Star Wars get. Definately will be getting most of the Batman related characters, Wondergirl, Jay Garrick Flash, Question, Adam Strange...
Finally, my The Batman Dracula won't be the short man out and alone heightwize for much longer. DrGreenEvil

JLU sells quite well. Especially for Target and especially from now on. Their exclusive agreement and the line's continued existence is testament to that. Only time will tell however what effect the new 3inch line will have on JLU since it too will surely have collector interest as well. As for what to expect in 2008, JLU is (wisely) shifting its marketing to collectors. Outside of the described and shown 6pk, we will be getting 13 entirely new characters/figures PLUS character/show accurate re-paints. The exclusive deal and marketing approach will also positively effect availability and assortments. Why there has been no news on the line's re-naming etc is curious though. Perhaps they changed their mind and it will remain "JLU". 2008'09 could always be the last, but if so, no denying an impressive and virtually unprecidented run by comparison.

He was referring to Capt. Marvel. To the majority at large, Shazam and Captain Marvel are one in the same. This is out of necessity in light of DC's legal restrictions regarding use of the formal name and title of "Captain marvel".

This is out of necessity in light of DC's legal restrictions regarding use of the formal name and title of "Captain marvel". you mean Mattel may have restrictions. DC can use the name. all of DC Direct's figures of the character have the name Captain Marvel on the packaging. also how can the majority of comic fans not know that Shazam and Captain Marvel are 2 seperate characters? especially fans who are looking forward to the figure being made. and its been stated that Mattel now has no restrictions and has the complete master license now. naming The Question, Vic Sage, is fine as it's the same character. Shazam and Captain Marvel are 2 completely different characters, they also dont look anything like each other. i really cant see how a majority of people could confuse the 2 characters.

I have no idea what (if any) exact restrictions Mattel has regarding the character at this time. Other than they are still "working on it and looking into making him as a fig". DC however does still have restrictions upon exactly how they can use the name "Captain Marvel". This of course all still relates to the long ago Marvel lawsuit. It mainly effects how the name can be used in print media... primarily in Title form if Im not mistaken. As a result, for years since DC has had little option but to promote and refer to Capt. Marvel (and family) under the blanket heading "Shazam". To avoid confusion further, for years in the books, Shazam the character has been primarily referred to as "the Wizard Shazam" or simply "the Wizard" and the Capyain has been called Shazam from time to time. As such, most the populace at large, and a generation of fans recognize and associate the name Shazam as Captain Marvel, or make little to no distinction between the two. The names have become rather interchangeable (despite the technical facts).

Shazam is currently deceased and Captain Marvel has taken his place and is now known only as Marvel. never has he been called Shazam. Shazam is what he used to say to turn into Captain Marvel. also i still cant see how he can be mistaken for Shazam. anyone who has ever read any comic featuring the Marvel Family should know the difference between the characters. and a quick question, since you think people think Captain Marvel is called Shazam, then do those same people refer to Captain Marvel Jr. as Shazam Jr.? what about Mary Marvel? is she Mary Shazam? come on man, no one that follows or reads comics and are fans of the characters get confused about who is who. but if i did happen to miss an issue or i've forgotten about something from a particular issue, please let me know when a character called Captain Marvel the name Shazam. because i dont ever recall him being referring to incorrectly.

Growing up in the 70's and 80's I always thought the character was referred to as both names because of all this. It wasnt until I was older when I found out it all had to do with name rights and such. I guess you missed all this stuff?

Well sir, Firstly, I must say I dont understand, nor do I appreciate the unecessary "venom" in your replies. This isnt an argument. I'm not out to antagonize you and I'm not doubting nor questioning your knowledge of Captain Marvel history (for the record, I dont need to be edjucated on the subject either). I was simply offering a response to your original question regarding the figure info. Point is (for better or worse, right or wrong) everyone from the grandma on the street, to the geekiest of comic book geeks knows exactly who you are referring to when you say Shazam (because of everything previously discussed). Whether they know the character in questions real name is Captain Marvel or not. I also honestly believe youre fully aware of this. Im not going to split hairs. I for one am just thrilled to get any figure of the BIG RED CHEESE! (or so Ive heard him called).

This isnt the subject at hand (how could anyone confuse Capt. Marvel with Shazam) and we've hijacked the thread. But to put it to bed, my comment was meant to express that PEOPLE do or have often erroneously called Captain Marvel by the name Shazam. Not Nec. other characters or cast members within the pages. We can continue this privately within a PM if you desire, or feel free to start up a new specific thread on the subject (could be fun!). The good Captain rarely gets enough attention imo.
Consider the issue dropped and lets get back on the subject of the new line...
Latest news is we can expect more definite info at NY con in April regarding more specific character selection and assortments, and truer product representation (more complete / finished samples).
The price point is said to be $5.99 for singles and $15.99 for 3pks (personally find that a bit steep by comparison).
