Hey guys, Got a couple bits of news tonight. First off, there's a new custom up on the site. This time around it's the Jason Todd Robin Memorial, done in a more traditional style than my previous Frank Miller version. Hop on over to the site to check it out. Also, if you haven't already, be sure to pick up the latest issue of Lee's Action figure and Toy Figure. It's got the Johnny Depp figure on the front, and a nice spread of a dozen or so of my customs on page 30. Finally, I'll be announcing the rules to the Alex Ross Batman custom giveway contest tomorrow. I've got a ton of new goodies in store for the site relaunch, so hopefully you guys will like all the new additions. Anyway, hope all's well! Let me know what you think of the new custom (despite the grainy photo) Matt aka Iron-Cow www.ironcowprod.com

Hey, thanks PJ!
If all goes well, I *might* be able to mass produce a few of these at some point. Not sure yet. But it'll be a fun experiment.
Now if only I could customize a 6" scale Classic 1950's Batmobile...

And if you could do the Batmobile that would be awesome. I'd love to see it. Again I wish I had that kind of skill to try something like that. PJ

Yes that does look great. If you do go into production I would like one as well.
On a side note has anyone found a T-Rex or a large Penny that could also be used in making the Trophy Room in the Batcave that fits in scale with the figures?

You mean like this? =) Actually, the Giant Penny and Joker Card aren't up on my site yet, but they will be next week. For free! The dinosaur, though, you might have to get at Toys R Us. Matt aka Iron-Cow

[shadow=red,left,300]Iron Cow, you have made what many wish Kenner/Hasbro or Mattel for that matter would touch upon. Awesome job...just truly awesome! [/shadow]

as usual, your work looks FANTASTIC matt... i'm definately w/bullock on this on... i only wish mattel/kenner/hasbro/dc direct would show your kind of initiative and creativity to produce unique items like your robin memorial...
have you thought about installing an LED or two in the top to make the piece self-lit? it looks amazing right now and adding a working light in the display would put it over the top for sure!

That thing is awesome, I love the green highlights in the mask, it's simple but effective. Man I wish I could make one of those or buy one from Mattel or Hasbro. I wanted one when you made the Frank Miller one, but now I really really want this one! Great job. I hope I win something from your site relaunch (I'm a member already)!

Hey, thanks guys.... KID L: here, check this out: This was a Frank Miller version I did ages ago. The base part is one of those bubble lights you put in closets or wherever. You just click the base and it lights up. Not the most effective light, but it still sorta works. =) I did learn something though... for this new Robin Memorial, I probably should have left the top part clear, instead of painting it black. That way, natural light could filter down as well. Definately liking your LED idea, though. That'd be far more dramatic. Any idea where I could pick one up? I'd love to give it a shot... whoa, a bubble light sounds pretty cool... especially lit from the bottom... i imagine it'd give it the right amount of eeriness for a memorial in the batcave... i also like the natural light idea... it'd look great in my room, but not so great in the batcave... ;D i know my local radioshack has a somewhat wide variety of LEDs... (different shapes, colors, sizes, intensities, etc)... you might want to check there... if you don't have any luck, i could always just pick some up for you and ship them out to you for no extra charge... it'd be worth it just to see pics of the final custom!

That looks great Matt! I had to go with a Square Containment Device, and I'm totally jealous of yours my friend. Where did you find that? P.S. it's ok if you don't want to give away all your tricks!

Hey, thanks for the kind words!
I found the cylinder at Industrial Plastics, down in Chinatown (New York City). I had to trim down the length a bit, but it didn't take too long.
I'd say look around in the phone book and see if you can't find a place that deals in plastics. This was just a leftover scrap of theirs I found.
Hope this helps! Thanks again!

p.s. if you have access to a digital camera, I'd love to see how yours turned out...

I had an idea for lighting things like the Memorial that would work for the whole Batcave, if anyone wants to give it a try. Get a lighting system for a dollhouse (bigger hobby shops that sell dollhouse accessories should have them). I've looked at these briefly with an eye toward lighting my own displays someday, but haven't tried it yet. Basically, there's a sort of base unit that you plug into the wall. Then lighting 'strips' can be plugged into the unit. The strips are basically wiring you attach to the walls/ceiling of the dollhouse, and at the end you attach whatever lighting fixture you choose. If you can find some small, plain little fixtures, one could be fitted to the top inside the memorial to light it from above. Others could be hidden in various parts of your cave as well. The systems might be a little pricey, but if it works well, it'd be worth it. I'm seriously considering adding a small light or two to the 'Crime Alley' portion of my display, especially if I can find a something that can attach to a Spiderman streetlamp. If anyone tries this in their Batcave, let me know how it turns out!

Hey BatWulf!
That's a really good idea! I've been actually meaning to track down a good doll supply store for awhile now. Really want to find a DCD scaled Granfather clock, and maybe an angelic tombstone to serve as photo props.
Good call on the lil' lights. I'll have to look into it.
If you ever find any of these online, definately shoot me the link.
Thanks again!

I'm such a big fan of your site....I've been going there forever and checking out your customs. I'd love to hire you guys to do some customs of the designs I came up with for a "Batman: Year One" show....check out my ORIGINAL DESIGNS thread and let me know what you think.
Keep up the awesome work!

"Matt - the work is just amazing. I say we donate to iron cow, so he can buy the batman franchise from DC lol."
ha! that's awesome... Actually, technically you *can* donate to the Iron-Cow site, but all of that gets poured right back into running the site. Of course, any donations of $200 or more gets you whatever masterpiece custom action figure you could ever want. =)
Speaking of, if all goes well, I'll have a Batman update on the site tonight. Something to tie in with a certain DC Direct line that hits stores this week...
Thanks again! Matt aka Iron-Cow
