Just a recap: Red Claw and Dr. Doom have framed Batman and Spider-Man to distract the world from their true plot.
Batman watched from binoculars the progress bellow. The military installation was being watched constantly.
Spider-Man stood beside him. He asked, “What’s the plan?”
Batman replied, “This is going to be tricky, but I’ve seen into worst situations. With your ability to sense danger, we should be okay.”
He could tell Spider-Man was stunned. He asked, “What’re you talking about? How did you find out?”
Batman said, “You react to fast when you’re about to be surprised. It is almost obvious that you react with some sort of sixth sense.”
Spider-Man shook his head in disbelief. “Psychic?”
Batman replied plainly, “Logic.”
He observed a few more minutes and said, “It appears the guards rotate every fifteen minutes. That gives a thirty second window.”
Spider-Man asked, “What about sensors and heat scanners?”
Batman held up a round object. “Take this. It’ll mask our body heat. It should last for about one hour.”
Spider-Man took and gave him thumbs up. “Roger that.”
Batman glided down from his incline. He already knew that Spider-Man was only a short distance away. Spider-Man impressed him very much. He was a real hero and true guardian of justice. They arrived at the entrance and waited. Two guards moved away. As they did, Batman moved quickly through. He heard Spider-Man above him. They moved quietly through the building, until at last they made it to the control room. Batman whispered, “There’s two men in there.”
Spider-Man said, “Good, I’ve been getting antsy anyway.”
Batman shook his head. “Not necessary,” was all he said. He pulled a black ball out of his belt and cracked the door. He flipped the ball inside and it ignited. He heard the guards inside fall over.
Batman opened the door and they walked inside. Spider-Man asked, “Was that sleeping gas?”
Batman replied, “It’s sometimes necessary.”
Spider-Man said, “Hey no arguments here. I prefer sneaking around more than making a grand entrance myself.”
Batman sat at the computer and accessed the files.
He said, “I’m searching for anything that is registered as missing. That might give us some sort of clue.”
Spider-Man nodded. “Sounds good to me.”
A password option appeared on the screen. Batman sat back in the chair. “This could be a problem.”
Spider-Man said, “I have an idea.”
Batman spun the chair around to face him. “What is it?”
Spider-Man replied, “SHIELD agents always carry an ID card. Maybe our friends here have a card that we can slide.”
Batman replied, “That’s a good idea.”
He watched as Spider-Man pulled a card from one of the agent’s pockets. “Try this,” he said.
Batman took and slid the card into a slot. The screen came up. “Not bad.”
Spider-Man exclaimed, “Not bad? That’s downright good!”
Batman began typing the commands and it came up. He said, “According to this, we stole valuable information on the SHIELD Helicarrier, or in particular, we stole data on how to operate its offense weaponry.”
Spider-Man said, “I’ll bet they’ve supped up the security then. No one would dare attack there.”
Batman had a thought. “Unless it’s already taken.”
Spider-Man asked, “What do you mean?”
Batman replied, “Think about it. Someone is targeting the African dignitaries who are signing a treaty, no doubt a well known terrorist group. Maybe, they’ve somehow taken over SHIELD’s most powerful vessel, but don’t know how to use it.”
Spider-Man said, “But look at these files! According to this, Colonel Fury is still sending reports every week.”
Batman replied, “Look at this, though, Fury asked permission to divert from his mission to protect the dignitaries. This sounds suspicious.”
Spider-Man shrugged. “Well, what do we do now?”
Batman said, “We have to find Chameleon and Clayface.”
Spider-Man suddenly said, “Wait, there’s danger!”
The door burst open and a squad of SHIELD agents stormed in.
The leader said, “They’re back! Stop them immediately!”
Batman shouted, “Split up! You know where to find me!”
Spider-Man dodged gunfire. “Roger!” he shouted. Batman watched him climb into the vent.
Batman grabbed three batarangs and threw them. He heard the guards yell in pain as their guns were knocked from their hands. Batman stormed through them and knocked several of them out.
He pressed a button on his belt and headed out of the door. The guards tried to stop him, but they did not get the chance.
The Bat-Wing came from the sky. He fired his grappling gun, allowing him to latch on. He did a flip and landed in the cockpit.
He took off and headed directly for Gotham City. Fortunately, the SHIELD Nest was only a few miles away. He wondered how Spider-Man was doing.
