...Hi everyone!
I finally got all my photos uploaded to Imageshack and the text completed, so here we go!...
...The Saturday before the Halloween, we have a local parade in Anoka, MN.
They bill themselves as "The Halloween Capital of the World!"
Here are some of the members of the local MN Star Wars 501st costuming group who have marched in the parade over the last 5 years or so...
I'm friends / aquaintences with 4-5 of them. Being a Darth Vader fan (could you tell from my moniker?!), I HAD to get a couple of shots taken with him!
Now, I'm 6' 2-1/2" (6' 3" in my Batboots!) but this guy makes me look tiny!...
...You don't see this every day!...
I also do 5 nights of appearances at St. Paul's Como Zoo for a fund raiser called "Zoo Boo!" My good buddy Greg (Superman from the "Superman Returns" premiere and Fall Con) and I attended the first weekend, where we greeted 3.5 THOUSAND kids and adults on Saturday and 2.5 THOUSAND more people on Sunday!
For the second weekend, a three day event this time, my son, Adam, joined us and I also recruited my Fall Con Wonder Woman (Amada) and her 14 year old daughter Joan. We greeted OVER 4 THOUSAND kids and adults on Friday night alone!
From left to right, here's Adam as Robin, Joan as Batgirl, Amada as Wonder Woman, Greg as Superman and yours truly as Batman!...
Another shot of The League!...
It was getting cold and Amada and Joannie wanted to see what was going on around the zoo so we went on a "Justice League stroll!" We wandered down to the seal den ("Sparky's Arena") where a 3-girl band, "The Splatter Sisters," was starting to perform. Greg and I went down to the stage and started gesturing the kids to come on down! Alot of kids came down and so did the rest of our group. We started out by listening to the sisters tell stories...
...but quickly the stories led to dancing with the kids!...
(Yes, I DID do the Batusi, but I couldn't take pictures of myself doing it! Awww!)
After a while, one of the sisters asked Greg if he'd help out with a song so Greg became "Super Cow" for the "I Don't Know Why She Swallowed the Fly" song! The guy has...udders!
I think he liked that costume a little TOO much!!! ;D
After the singing was over, we wandered over to the Wizard's area. I made a dragon-thingy (6 kids could carry it like a Chinese dragon) for my son's 4-H club and thought it would work well in the Wizard's exhibit! We had some fun taking pics with it!
And just some pics with more kids!...
Unfortunately, Amada and Joan could only do Friday night this year, but they had so much fun, they promised to do more next year!
Saturday night, after rushing from the parade in Anoka back to the zoo in St. Paul, I had my wife (as Batgirl) join us and, this time, we greeted 6 THOUSAND, 8 HUNDRED kids and adults! (No time for pics!)
Sunday was lighter with "only" 5 THOUSAND people, but, unfortunately, Greg couldn't make it. After taking a photo with some little Bat friends, I asked the kids' parents if they would mind taking another photo of us with their kids using my camera!
I hope you like the pics and stories!
John
