Who was the lamest villain on the '60s show? Why?
If you choose "other" say who.

OK, he may not have been lamer than, say, Bookworm, or any of the other show-only villains, but man there was no more annoying villain than Victor Buono as King Tut.
Liberace as a villain was priceless, though.
900 posts! Woo hoo! Fitting that it comes on a topic about the show that first got me into Batman as a kid ...

Well, Tut, as lame and anoying as he was, was at least basically a Maxie Zeus knock rip... my vote goes to Egg Head. Forget the fact it was Vincent Price in the role. No explination nor further "justification" for my vote should be Nec.... Its Friggin "EGG HEAD" for Cryin Out Loud! ! ! Eggzactly!

Louie the Lilac was awful. So was Ethel Merman's character, but she's not listed. I really kind of liked McDowall as Bookworm - that's a nice connection there between his character on the ABC- TV show and his Mad Hatter in BTAS. ;D

Liberace had a priceless perfromance as said before. But that was the dumbest thing I ever saw. An evil Pinao player! BEWARE! HE IS COMING!

I always liked King Tut. He was always a great comic villain, and V. Buono came off with some great add libs during the course of the show. My lamest villain, or I should say villainess, has always been Nora Clavicle from the 3rd season. She's the one who took over Commissioner Gordon's job, and tried to blow up Gotham City using thousands of mechanical mice with bombs. She also tied Batman, Robin, and Batgirl into the fearsome Siamese Death Knot! I cringe everytime I watch this episode, it is soooo bad! But it is part of the Canon...so I just grit my teeth, and keep going. A fan actually has a website devoted to the Siamese Death Knot. www.geocities.com/Area51/Chamber/2517/ ;D

I don't know, this is really hard. There are so many cheesy villains, what about Shame? The Archer? The Minstrel? I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. If anyone can narrow it down to just one "lamest villain" I applaud you!

[shadow=purple,left,300]For me, it's close between Louie the Lilac and Eddhead. I remember watching tapes of the 60s series, and agonizing in pain over their appearances. I voted for Louie, though, since he has the most non-threatening name of any villain in history.[/shadow]

If anyone can narrow it down to just one "lamest villain" I applaud you! Oh man... I forgot about Van Johnson as The Minstrel. That was about as bad as they got. Wasn't Cliff Robertson Shame, the lame-butt cowboy? And Art Carney as The Archer was also terrible. You know, in hindsight, it's a wonder that the character of Batman even survived the 1960s at all.

Egghead....it doesn't get much cornier than that. Vincent Price is a legend, but Egghead is not. I forgive him for it though ;D

Shame or Shane which ever his name was, played by Cliff Robertson (who also plays Uncle Ben in the Spider Man movies) was a really lame character!

This is weird but I cant think of a villian that was just completley lame.
My vote would have to be the Puzzler. He was just thrown in there because they couldnt get Frank Gorshin to play the Riddler. And on the other villians, considering it was the 60's, they were cool. Just the fact that it was Vincent Price made Egghead cool. I especially loved the villian when he teamed up with Olga, Queen of the Cossacks. And yeah Louie the Lilac doesnt sound that threatening, but he was a cool villian to. I have always thought that DC Direct should make an action figure line of this show. Its one of the few figures I would pay $16 for. Id espcially buy an Egghead and King Tut.

When it comes to Lamest Villain, it has to be Louie the Lilac. He's just the male version of Poison Ivy.

I cast my vote for "Other," because I thought Nora Clavicle was a real bonehead! ;D That episode really sucked an egg! Barbara Rush and the other ladies were really wasted in that episode.
Now, if I were casting Ms. Rush, I would cast her as a nuclear terrorist or something more vile. Someone who would be a really deadly opponent for Batman.

You know, in hindsight, it's a wonder that the character of Batman even survived the 1960s at all. REALLY??!! From EVERYTHING I've read/heard, Batman was on the edge of being CANCELLED as a comic until the TV show premiered and SAVED the character!!! If it weren't for the show, there wouldn't have been ANY interest in even MAKING the movie in '89 'cos the comic would have been gone in the 60's and the ONLY Batman on film up to then would have been in the serials!!!

MauledVader is right here. Love or hate Adam West's version, we owe him the existence of the character. He should be as celebrated a person as Bob Kane for Batman.

Batman was nearly cancelled as a comic in 1964 or so. It was still in recovery mode in 1966, when the series debuted. I enjoyed the series when it debuted, and it made a major impact on me as a 6-year-old.
And years later, it led me to the comics. That is why I get Catwoman every month, and why I have a Web site for her.

I grew up with the Adam West Batman on reruns, and loved it, as did most kids at the time, and I still enjoy the show on camp and nostalgia value, it's a fun slice of cheese. Does it jibe with my ultimate view of Batman? Not in a million years, and it doesn't mean I'd want to see anyone else try to recreate that kind of Batman again, but that's not to say that it isn't worthy in it's own right, and it's spot in Bat history is well deserved in my opinion. I mean one of the single greatest things about truly iconic characters is that they can stand not only the test of time, but also stand up to many and varied interpretations over the years, and Batman as a character has proven that time and again for decades upon decades now.
That all said, on the subject of lamest villian, I still have an unnatural hatred for the absolute annoying lameness that was King Tut...
