Several years ago, Wal*Mart sold a video with 5 or 6 of those episodes on it. It sold for about $10 I think. Not too bad if I do say. Classic Batman animation.

This was the first Batman cartoon that I was introduced to in the late 60's! It is fabulous, and was done very much in the style of the '66 series. As a matter of fact, the series was prepped and ready to roll out as soon as the TV series went off in 1968. Trivia question....Olan Soule also went on to do the voice of Batman on Superfriends. Its great to see this new section on these classics cartoons which are a huge favoite of mine.

Olan Soule did the voice for Batman on The Super Friend but didn't someone take over after a time?

If anyone has copies of this show on vhs, vcd or dvd, please respond here, PM or email me. We're needing to get ahold of these, so we can do screen grabs, full reviews etc.
Thanks!

Olan Soule did the voice for Batman on The Super Friend but didn't someone take over after a time? Adam West took over his old role of Batman once the Superfriends entered it's Galactica Guardians/Legendary Superpowers era (the episodes featuring Darkseid as a recurring villain).

Another major voice change was Wonder Woman. Shannon Farnon had voiced her since the beginning of the SuperFriends, but Connie Cawlfield did the voice in The Legendary Super Powers show. The next year, the voice changed AGAIN to BJ Ward for the Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians show.

I absolutely loved these cartoons when I was a kid. They were tremendously influential in getting me into Batman.
If memory serves me right, when they hit syndication, they used to air in NY on Channel 5 after school. They simply called the show "Superheroes" and there were generally three cartoons: A Batman, an Aquaman, then another Batman. I think the Batman eps may even have been broken up into two parts: They'd show the first part with a cliffhanger, go to Aquaman, then back to the conclusion of Batman. But my memory is very hazy on this so I could be wrong.
When they released some of these as the Super Powers collection, I picked up the Batman tape and I watch it with my son from time to time. I'd love it if the series made it to DVD but I have no idea what the rights issues are.
I also have the theory that Aquaman's outsize popularity with kids in the late '60s thru mid-70s had something to do with the Filmation series. For some reason, they gave Aquaman his own run while they pretty much left more interesting heroes like GL and Flash in the one or two JLA eps they produced.
Later, Aquaman was included in the original SuperFriends line-up, perhaps because of this. Otherwise, how do you explain it? They certainly had better options available.

I did not watch this series when it was on from 1968 to 1970. I guess I was still ticked over how Season 3 of Batman had turned out. But I would like to look over those episodes, since I understand that they were more serious in nature, and reflected the comic book. Catwoman's outfit is proof positive of this.

In SuperFriends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, Olan Soule did the voice of Professor Stein when Adam West took over Batman's voice, but was gone entirely when it became the Super Powers Team. If you check out the episode, Island of the Dinosoids, Batman and Prof. Stein are together in the opening sequence when the Batplane crashes on the island. Oddly enough in voice terms, it pairs up both Batman voices past and present, Adam West and Olan Soule together. Now that was a real treat. Cheers.
