What are your thoughts on the "nEw" Blade TV Series that Spike TV is putting on? I think the pilot will be out soon and the series will start in the fall? I could be wrong on the start date, but what do you all think?
I think if they stay with the theme of the first two films and keep true to the character it will be a really great show especially knowing that David Goyer is part of the crew.
My only concern is the actor who will be playing Blade. His name is Kirk "Sticky" Jones, he is better known as a rapper, and starred in a few films and recently played in FX's show Over There. He is alright, his acting skills are so so, and this concerns me. Maybe he will get better.
Do you think they could have found a better actor to play Blade or are you happy with Kirk Jones as Blade? I would have loved to have seen a different actor playing Blade perhaps Sean Patrick Thomas would have been a better choice if available or what about the kid who played Pete in Smallville? These guys can act and Kirk Jones really scares me because of his lack of acting skills, I hope I am wrong though, because this show has alot of potential!

Whoa, wait, what? They're making a Blade TV Show? The comic book Blade right? The same Blade Wesley Snipes played? The Vampire Hunter? *faints in shock of this*

I have always been of the opinion to "wait and see". I will check this out, and if it is good, I'll watch it. I think it is way to early to pass any judgement on this issue at this time. We should just wait and see.

Good point about the wait and see...

The Only thing this has going for it IMHO is Goyer's involvement. I anticipate it as being another "The Crow: Stairway to Heaven".

As much as i hope i'm wrong, being a huge fan of the Films,i just don't think they'll be able to pull off the intensity and style that we would expect to see of Blade in a TV series. Besides, wasn't the Vampire Nation wiped out in the last Film?

[shadow=purple,left,300]This is a bad idea. If it was animated, I'd dig it. I might even be okay with it if it aired on a network like UPN or WB. But they're going to pour a lot of money into an almost gauranteed flop.
I've got the same perspective on this as I do the upcoming Aquaman "Smallville" spin-off. But I've been wrong before.[/shadow]

yeah Im n ot too optimistic about that aquaman spin off either-especially since they say its nothing to do with Smallville and not actually a spin off >:(I think it would be better to make it a spin off myself.......

( Highlander being the worst i can think of) But an animated blade in the style of the spawn cartoons, now that i would want to see.

I dont honestly care much one way or the other since I dont have much if any personal investiment in the character or franchise... but IMO there is really no way this show will do anything but drive the franchise into the ground and bury it. It just doesnt have enough to offer to sustain itself in such a medium.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
This show probably won't last too long. I not sure what's more confusing. Blade on Spike or ECW on Sci Fi. Did there contracts get mixed up or something?

[shadow=purple,left,300]This series looks atrocious. The plot sounds idiotic and, from what I can tell, this series has dumbed Blade down, attaching sex appeal to stupid one-liners and bad acting. Not that I am a fan of the character, or the movies, but come on... I can't believe Marvel allowed this to happen.[/shadow]

I'm willing to give it a chance for several reasons. One Goyer is steering the ship himself, and doing so with the help of Geoff Johns no less. Two, Kirk Jones (or Sticky Fingaz, whatever you want to call him) was actually pretty good on both Over There and The Shield, now whether he has the charisma that's required to carry a show however remains to be seen (and that to me is the biggest worry in his casting), but he's not just another talentless rapper actor wannabe on all evidence that I've seen thus far, plus he's a genuine comics fan to boot, which is cool. Three, being on Spike allows them to get away with more than they ever could on Network tv (especially these days) and for a character such as this that's pretty much essential if they want to be true to the character and universe.
As for Wesley Snipes loss, well he didn't even want to do Blade Trinity, and swore never to do another Blade after he eventually agreed to make that one, so his time as Blade was over regardless, even discounting the fact that this is a tv spinoff. In a surprising show of chairity (for an actor who is well known as being extremely difficult to work with) he actually even gave the show his blessings a little while back.
Now I'm not saying it will be good, but I'm definitely willing to wait and see and give it the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, just have to see how the first couple of episodes shape up I guess. Given the fact that it starts on the 28th I guess I'll find out soon enough...

I liked the show, but I never could get into it. It didn't have that "I need to watch" quality. It doesn't matter now anyway the show has been CANCELLED. Read about it here
