Hey guys.
I have my own feelings on this, but I want all of you input on who is better...Superman or Batman..and most importantly WHY
Who would win in a fight? Why?

In terms of who I like better, Batman. The death of his parents led him to lead the life he's chosen and gives him reason to fight crime and make sure the same thing that happened to him doesn't happen to anyone else. Superman saves the world because he can.
In terms of a fight, let's remember, Batman has a Kryponite ring, so if he ever fought Superman, he could just slip the ring on he's kicking his @$$. If he didn't have the ring though he'd still win, like in DKR.

[shadow=green,left,300] Hmm this is very interesting. I have to say between Supes and Bats that Batman is better mainly for his origin. Batman has a point to protect others along with Superman, but it's better to see what makes the character whom he is in essence. This is what makes the character who it is, Batman has a Crow kind of story going on to protect other's from experiencing what they went through. Superman is more of the person who is more loving and caring of others, he is more of the one who can defend people just because he enjoy's it and it is what he was out on to do. Batman does it for a purpose and Superman does it because that's what he enjoy's doinf along with what would be the right thing to do . Now on fighting normally Superman would have the advantage on powers but Batman has more of the intellect and would think before he jumps into action. Superman could win but I say it's more of an equally matched thing, it all depends on the advantages another may have. [/shadow]

I'd have to say Batman, not just because he's my favorite superhero but kust because he's driven by vengeance and doesn't really analyze something before doing it like Superman would, he'll throw a punch and ask questions later, you'd have to get Superman pretty mad to react,. Batman may not have superpowers but his brain, drive and training more than make up for that, and then there is the kryptonite ring, when Superman himself gave Batman the kryptonite it was because he's the only person he trusted to do the right thing if and when the time came, that tells you who the badass is! Batman is my choice!

I think we are a little biased here since this is LOG(otham) and not LOM(etropolis). But my vote goes to Batman. Superman is an icon and when we need somebody to save the world, we do need him. Batman stands as one of the greatest because of who he is. He is a mortal who uses the best of his abilities to save lives.
I am a firm believer that the world needs a Superman. I'm sure we would all be sleeping better if we knew he was around in the real world. Still, Batman takes the ring because he is human. He is one of us.
As for the fight. I have to give it to Batman. If Batman is prepared, he can bring down just about any of the DC heroes and villians. Batman is always thinking outside the box and how to solve this situation.
Batman hands down is my hero.

Batman! Kryptonite Ring to the rescue! So why the question /\/\att? I'm in talks to appear on a TV show for a discussion on Batman vs Superman...so your input here may affect the way fans are perceived on a large scale. Please keep the thoughts coming...I need as much comic book insight as possible What is best about Batman over Superman? Is one more relevant than the other? Obviously I'm taking Batman's side here, lol

[glow=red,2,300]Batman ,Superman is a hero but when real crisis happens and the boy scout routine wont do Bats is always there to kick pink elephant! Bats is more intelligent than Supes and I would have to say has more expierance! And I think Superman knows that Batman would be the only one capableof Killing him thats wh yhe gave the ring to batman in case he turned bad![/glow]

For one thing, Batman is more multi faceted. Batman is more "complex". He has the ability to be more things to more people. He lends himself to more individual interpretation. With Superman, you know what you're getting and what to expect. Pretty much everyone has the same *idea about who and what Superman is... but Batman means something different to everyone. People *relate to, or are attracted to Superman for pretty much all the same basic reasons, but everyone attracted to Batman relates to him in their own way. Bat fans all see his character differently... not to mention he has more angles and complexities to explore, examine and interest people young and old. Superman is great and has his own appeal for sure, but Batman simply has MORE. Another appeal of Batman's is that the Man himself is ultimately center stage and makes the character. If you strip Superman of his powers and youre left with just a man. An honest, humble and decent well meaning man sure, but strip away the utility belt, the mask, the Bat from Bat-Man, and he'll still kick your pink elephant and still be a hero in one way or another.
Superman gives us belief in something *higher. Batman gives us belief in ourselves. Superman shows us what we could and should be in everything. Batman shows us what we can be despite anything.
Both Batman and Superman are inspiring Icons of hope... simply in different aspects of it.
Superman can be likened to Christ, which is a wonderful, inspiring and universal tale, but there is something simply more indefinably and undeniably "cool" about Batman.

Matt, if you're gonna talk about this, you should put down the line on them fighting: it SHOULDN'T happen at all. They fight in a point in the movie, okay. But the film must be about them teaming up.
Say that.

Who's better, well that depends what you mean by 'better' I guess.
If you mean who is the better man, then it has to be Superman, just because he's almost totally selfless, whereas Batman has an agenda born out of vengeance for what he does. That doesn't mean that Batman isn't a good man, but he is a good man born of, and who still lives surrounded by darkness.
If you mean which to I like better, then Batman, easily.
As for who would win in a fight, Batman, definitely. You see Superman would never hurt Batman, at most he'd try to stop him, but he'd be pulling his punches, careful every step of the way. Batman on the other hand, if he believed himself to be in the right (and when doesn't he?) would do whatever it takes to bring Superman down if that's what needed to be done in his eyes, and to do that he'd cheat. To Batman, the ends justify the means, so cheating and 'playing dirty' are all tools of the trade. Add to which, in situations like this knowledge is power, and Batman knows his friends every bit as well as he knows his enemies, which gives him a huge psychological and tactical edge.
My thoughts anyways.
Sev.

Man,I had to write this a couple of times before I could come up with a response I was happy with.Basically,Superman is the perfect hero for the 1930's.He's an alien from another world with all the powers of a God who doesnt smoke,he doesnt drink, and he always tells the truth. He's a big blue boyscout and all of us would like to think that the world is that simple and good and black and white. We ALL would like to think that we have it within oursleves to become Superman. But we live in Batmans world-a world that only makes sense when you force it to make sense.A world where there is no black and white because everything is grey.Batman lives in a world where a nine year old boy can see his parents killed before his very eyes, where a best friend can become your worst enemy, and where tragedy is always lurking around the next corner.Batman made himself into the perfect hero through years of hard work and sheer willpower because that was the only way he could make sense of chaos.

Awesome news /\/\att to appear on a show. I'm going to have to favor with Batman as my favorite of the two because of who he is and what he does. Because of his parents' he doesn't want revenge but vengeance among those who do wrong. Superman is just a symbol everyone ganders at because he can fly and shoot beams through his eyes. He's not the type of superhero I'd call a legend. He's literally, to me, just a 'super'hero. In a fight however is where I must favor Superman, but I am basing on strength. Batman undoubtetly would be able to outsmart the Man of Steel but in terms of endurance he's very frail compared to Superman.

You're asking this to a very biased forum. For all I know, though, you might have posited the same inquiry at some Superman fansite and gotten their look at things.
It really depends on how much you believe in Superman's humanity. Batman for the past 20-30 years has gotten an increasingly dark and psychotic makeover to the point that people who back in the 60s and 70s would hardly recognize the current incarnation. Aside from slightly lighter interpretations in BTAS and TB and the movies no one likes, that view of Batman has been fairly consistent.
People in general still have a very flat and two dimensional view of Superman still since he hasn't gotten the same makeover Batman did in the same time period. He stayed a farmboy, stayed a mildmannered reporter, and kept his costume of bright primary colors. However, there have been efforts as well to provide a more human side and rationale to Superman, showing how anger can drive him to do things (Superman: Birthright and Superman: For Tomorrow are good examples) and that he like all other human beings on earth, feels the same emotions and troubles. Perhaps in some ways, even more so because when he is most himself (Superman) he is also the least able to connect on a meaningful level with homo sapiens who view him as a god. Conversely, only when he assumes his disguise and puts on a facade can people truly talk to him normally and relate. His loneliness is a common element explored in most of the best Superman stories.
Now, the discussion of Superman as a human being does relate to the question of Batman vs Superman. What most people are assuming without stating it explicitly that Superman is godly, perfect, and will never fail to stand for the values he does. That includes his usual stance on holding back on his powers and only using them in correct proportion to the threat. But if he were angry or motivated enough to discard his beliefs for just a moment, he might lash out in a way Batman would be unable to retaliate from, like being thrown into the Sun or burned to ash. The other arguments on this board so far state that Batman would win because he feels confident in his abilities to predict and prep for any eventuality. But Batman is not infallible; he has made many mistakes before and been unable to cope with enemies who didn't act as he thought they would (War Games, Hush Returns).
Thus, I consider Superman to have a very good chance against Batman. Batman is not omnipotent or omniscient. I think Superman has a human unpredictable side as well, that can go beyond what Batman would expect.
