Great issue guys. I enjoyed it through and through. In BTAS i never really found firefly as a threat. In this issue firefly seems very menacing. I suggest this to read.
And as for this look and find. I searched this issue panel by panel, word for word. The only thing i could really find was either one of two things. 1.) one building has the name wrightson on it. I don't know if this is any relevance to LOG but it just seemed to stick out. 2.) in one scene when firefly is tossed off of a clock tower you see batman on the top looking over. His symbol is obscured and could quite possibly be seen as LOG in a blurred cursive writing.
I don't know, but i just want that signed issue.

[shadow=green,left,300]good guesses, but sadly, no. Keep those ideas comin'! Take note of your surroundings on the forum. What from the forum could be in the book... and in the meantime, lets discuss the story and the art, shall we! No entry will win without also having valid discussion![/shadow]

I really loved the cover on this issue too. The fight between Bats and firefly was very fluent and well done. As usual, the art was very clean.
As for my guess...is it the layout on the bulletin board in the background of firefly's apartment?

This was my first time reading this comic and I was amazed how much I liked it. First off I loved the design of firefly and I think it is way better then the other firefly designs IMO. The art was perfect for this kind of comic. I like the cover because it caught my attention really easily and really tells which villian is going to be in the comic. The plot was really easy to follow unlike the arc in detective :PIMO. This comic has to be one of the best comics I read this week and it inspired me to buy some more back issues. Can't wait for next months issue Die Laughing

Ok..now for my thoughts on the actual story. I've enjoyed this book all along..but I have to say that this issue was outstanding! Bill took the book out of the standard bats vs. villian format and really told a story that had some depth, while not getting too heavy. It showed the character and loyalty of Batman in a way I've rarely seen. It bordered on emotional at moments. I'm big on revenge themes, so it was particularly interesting to me. I'm loving the way Firefly was further developed. Now he can sense rises in heat around him, so he knows when someone is in the room, due to the excess in body heat. VERY nice touch! The art...well, its Chris Jones..'nuff said! Seriously, though, the layouts in this issue were breathtaking. More nice city-scapes...well done montages. I particularly enjoyed that firefighter with the number D27 on his hat. Nice one Chris. The coloring, as always, is a bit off. Heroic Images can't seem to manage blue highlights, instead of gray. Its hilarious, because there's a Batman fruit snacks add with the appropriate colors on one page, and their botched version on the other. lol. All in all this is my favorite issue of the series. The title has reached a new level, and I hope it stays there! I can read this book to my son, and know its going to be safe and appropriate, while also being a damn fine Bat-story. 10 out of 10!

Well said matt. This issue was very well done and the writing was top notch. Something about fire always seem to bring out emotion. Batman Strikes has really become very indepth of the characters and explores areas of batman's life that we seldom see. I always look forward to picking this up. And it's nice to have you along now tanbat. BTW matt, was D27 the little LOG nod that you spoke of?

I have got to say that my absolute favorite scene of the comic would have to be batman's interrigation of thorne. The whole scene was made well and was very fluent. But the best part was the look of fear on thorne's face. I loved it! Guess that's what you get for pissin' off an urban legend with enough money to buy china.

"Guess that's what you get for pissin' off an urban legend with enough money to buy china."
That's a great quote!
Too bad I can't use it in the book...
I'll have to talk Batman into giving Arkham a spin around Gotham in the 'mobile for that one.
Thanks for all the interesting feedback. I'm glad to hear what works for the Bat-centric minded of the board. The positive comments are welcome and appreciated. And the criticisms are useful, too. Sure, I cry when I first read them, but that only lasts for a few minutes. I snap on my utility belt and slip into my cowl, then all is right with the world.
Like K.C. And The Sunshine Band said, "Keep it coming, love!" Or was that Austin Powers?
Whatever. You get the idea...
Thanks!

You know something? I still haven't got over how cool it is to have the creative team of a comic book to not only talk on LOG but also interact with the fans who read there comics. It would nice if more people in the industry would do the same. Bill and Chris...you guys are one in a million, or two in a million, or ones in a million. And as always...Matt your site is awesome for just offering us this chance.

After rereading this issue I noticed something cool the name on the big clock tower is Englehart ;D And 2 more theories on the guessing game 1 is when Alfred talks about the break in at the Swanderson building (do not know if this relates to LOG) and my second theory is at the end of the comic when they had the grand reopening at the flower shop the female clerk had a green apron on and there is something written on it and it looks like it says Matt. Its always fun to watch for! Keep that story and art discussion coming too gang![/shadow]

I liked this issue a lot. The art is particular was well done and as always I like the throwaway references -- in this case, Englehart, Wrightson and Aparo.
I also especially dug the batlogo on the opening page. Nice homage to the '60s comic logo, which was always one of my favorites.

DieLaughing Firefly breaks into Aparo Productions. The name is obscured when he lands on the carpet but it's there. Also, I took Swanderson to be a reference to Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson. Anyway, I'm completely stumped on the LoG reference. I'm thinking maybe there's a Roger and Liz connection but I can't figure the reference.

Just click on the reply button at the end and start discussing the issue... ;D I love it! This was an excellent issue. I really like how Thorne is being developed into the man behind the scenes in Gotham. Batman knows, but doesn't have anything to tie him down - yet. I also liked the way that Firefly "amped up" his power to get out of Batman's trap. As always, great visuals and great story guys. You really should be getting more publicity about this book than you are. I know I've said this before, but, it's true - The Batman Strikes is consistently in my top 2 or 3 books every month.

I know I've said this before, but, it's true - The Batman Strikes is consistently in my top 2 or 3 books every month. well...we're doing our best here, at least! and we have been since the titles inception. Honestly, Batman Strikes kept me in the comic shop every month...even through that War Games nonsense....and that says a lot. DC TAKE NOTE...you're under-utilizing these guys. ....and I CANNOT believe that we're on a forum dedicated to the world's greatest detective, and no one has found the LoG easter egg!!!!! I'm honestly shocked..and you're going to hit yourselves in the forehead when you find it! lol

One more throwaway: Newton's -- a reference to Don Newton.
Oh, and I think I've figured it out: the smileys on the balloons at the end -- and Bruce says he wants a bouquet of them.
I looked at the issue over and over and that's the only thing LoG-like that kept coming up. "Nah, that can't be it. That's a reach," I told myself.
But I think it is.
Matt?
