I'm not too proud to toot my own horn....Here's the solicitation description for STRIKES #37, featuring my story, PRETTY POISON! This was the first Poison Ivy story I ever wrote, and it's one of my all-time favorite scripts. She's certainly one of my favorite villains. I hope you guys dig it. THE BATMAN STRIKES! #37 Written by Russell Lissau Art by Christopher Jones & Terry Beatty Cover by Sanford Greene & Nathan Massengill Poison Ivy's out for a night out on the town, but don't worry - Batman and Robin are hot on her tail! What can the Dynamic Duo do when no one in Gotham City has seen Ivy committing a crime? On sale September 12 o 32 pg, FC, $2.25 US

Hm, in spite of the solicitation I don't think I'm drawing that one. I drew the Gearhead story for #36, and now I'm drawing a Killer Croc story that I thought was #37. I'm it must be for #38 and someone else is drawing that Poison Ivy story.
I wish someone would tell me these things...

Thanks! In addition to Ivy, this is a story that let me have a lot of fun with Alfred. I first wrote him in BATMAN ALLIES SECRET FILES, and I really like writing for his voice. The following is an excerpt from the new piece:
PAGE 9, panel four (Horizontal, rest of page.) Alfred stands in the foreground, watching the Batmobile speed away in the background. Ever the butler, he carries the remains of Robin’s meal on a platter. Alfred makes a dry joke as the car speeds off.
7. SFX: VROOOM 8. ALFRED: Hmph. They never take me anywhere.

Love that Russell, if you ever do a Riddler story and there happens to be a crazed fan girl in the story you know who to call lol. ;D I would love to write a line for Riddler lol, cunning yet sarcastic. Well, I've been known to put friends' names in as Easter Eggs, so you never know!

I just got word from Nachie Castro, editor of The Batman Strikes, that this solicitation was completely wrong. There WILL BE such an issue, that's the cover, and I may even draw the interior art, but it's not going to be #37 (sorry Russell). #37 is the Killer Croc story I'm finishing up now, entitled "Depths". #38 will be a Black Mask story by Jai Nitz. I suspect Russell's Poison Ivy story will fall around #39 (although that's speculation on my part). From what I understand #40 should be the start of a BRAVE and BOLD new era for the series...! But I don't have any specifics on that yet... I'll be sure to share when I know more. Chris www.comicspace.com/christopherjones/

Good news, folks. the Croc story will be #37, and Pretty Poison (my piece) will be #38 in October. The solicitations are reversed.

Yeah, there was a little bit of a shake-up in the story order. Look for a Black Mask story by Jai Nitz in #39.
