[shadow=purple,left,300]After coming off of the brilliant season finale, I found this episode a bit disappointing. The whole plot involving the two statues seemed a bit over the top, imo.
It was nice to see Catwoman's return. I think the episode nailed some of the chemistry/ tension between Batman and Catwoman. The episode was also a good nod to "Batman Returns," but I would have preferred the episode without Penguin altogether, maybe the addition of a different villain... The action, however, was top-notch as always.
6/10.
Looking forward to "Riddled" next Saturday![/shadow]

I'm with J-Man. I was underwhelmed. Some thoughts:
-- I still don't like this treatment of the Penguin. Can't get past it. The only innovation I like is the Kabuki Twins.
-- I actually find the Bats-Cats chemistry a little forced. Gina Gershon is very sexy in real life but her voice work is a little over-the-top.
-- The story itself was pretty basic. Very old-school and the statue caper reminded me of the '60s series (though in a good way).
-- Best part was the Yin subplot. I thought that was handled very well and I liked the first time they saw each other, around the corner, quick nods.
On the whole, the ep was a bit of a step back, especially coming after the two-parter, which made such strides.

i missed HALF of the show :[ anyway, yes the kabuki twins were ammmmmaaaazzzzzzzing hahaha and i was somewhat disappointed by batman's shadow that was casted from the light house. it didnt' really look like his actual shadow nor the bat signal

it was an ok episode, but they really need to stop with these penguin episodes, just seeing him too much gives me a headache. the only good thing that came out the episode was a glimpse of the bat-signal at the end of the show and the whole Batman Returns thing.

I feel that Penguin is Batman's nemesis in this show, not Joker. Because Penguin is an enemy to both Batman and Bruce and he's showing up alot in the episodes.
I'm kinda getting sick of him.

What happened to the new theme song? I was wondering that, too.

What happened to the new theme song? I guess Matt was wrong about it. I was really anxious to see and hear it too! Great episode tho!! The lighting was really cool and I liked the artifacts aspect.

The plot for this episode wasn't too bad. A lot of surprises came to this episode. Surprises such as Yin suspected that the 2nd criminal working with Catwoman is Batman. The handcuff was tampered-proofed I thought it was funny when Batman can't drive the Batmobile b/c he was hancuffed from the left. A nice way of introducing how the idea of using the Bat-sign (and I'm not worrying about the shadow in the light, IT'S A CARTOON). And for The Penguin's assistants, I got one thing to say....Japanese Girls are fiesty. Overall, I'm not very interested in the plot this time, just a few surprises, chemistry between Bats, Catwoman, Yin and The Penguin's voice actor, Tom Kenny.

It was a good ep all in all. I'm not a big Penguin fan either. But he is a seminole character, so I can understand why they use him a lot.
The Returns nod was cute and the action was right on, especially with the Kabuki Twins. I could deal with an entire ep on their origins!
overall, I'd say 8 out of 10. Only because I'm so anxious for the new villians.
bring on the Riddler!

Very good episode. The animation was gorgeous, the character interaction was perfect (and I too, love the Kabuki Twins), and the plot itself was pretty straightforward, but loads of fun. I'd give this episode an 8/10.
I enjoyed this one more than both "The Cat and the Bat" and "Bird of Prey" -- which isn't to say either of those are bad, but I enjoyed this one much more. While I think Penguin can be overexposed, a good part of my complaint vanishes when we see just how much FUN his character can be when he's bounced off others.
Tom Kenny's vocals, combined with good writing, has made Penguin a blast to watch/listen to on screen. And what can be said of Gina Gershon? She's a great Catwoman -- in time, she may just replace the B:TAS Catwoman as the definitive animated version of the character. And the nods to "Batman Returns" were great as well.
Looking forward to "Riddled" next week.

I agree with most opinions here, action was good, story was pretty good. 8/10 But I'm also not a big penguin fan, I cant wait for new villains. but i want scarecrow....

Gah! I missed it! You wouldnt happened to know when that one's airing again would you? I couldnt see it Saturday, then I heard it was coming on Monday, but it didn't. Then I thought "well maybe theyll replay it Friday". What happened to that? Did they just stop replaying it on Fridays? Oh well :/ Catwoman is obviously one of my all-time favs. And well, I'm a nerd-ville fanboyish-decicator to her (or something). The only thing I can't stand with this new one is those dreadful "cat ears" she looks like the taco bell dog or something I LOVE that they gave Selina long black hair and a bit of purple on the costume, thats my favorite look (excluding the ears etc) Wow, I need to post here more often. I'm getting the un-updated rambling disease...

[shadow=red,left,300]I had to record this episode since I was going to be out of town, and now finally sat down and watched it.
A team up between Penguin and Catwoman? Immediately brings Batman Returns to mind.
The episode as a whole was great, and the banter between Selina and Oswald was what I've come to expect between the two. Those Kabuki twins...wow. I would love to learn more about this pair, hopefully in a future episode. [/shadow]
